Hi everyone. I played last night ( only for about 1.5 hours. ) It was supposed to be 2.5 hours but I got eliminated before that.
I was playing in a hotel near my place and there were about 9 of us at the table. I think most of them were just starting out or had been playing for about one year. Just like myself.
I was folding quite a few hands early as I was gettng nothing to play ( 2 4 that sort of thing. But on the eighth hand I got dealt A A and I remembered what the posters on this site told me to do ( I was the first to act BTW) which was to bet 4 to 5 x the BB ( the sb was 1 white chip $100.00)and the BB was 2 white chips $200.00 so I bet about 300.00 and about 5 people called, or raised. I raised another $300.00 and everyone else folded and I took the pot ( about $3K in chips)
Later on I got knocked out calling all in I had KQ, and the other guy had KK. I had a lot of fun last night and I will be a at it again on New Years eve.

The smallest chips were white ( $100.00) blue was $500.00 and red was 1000.00

And what were the blinds? If I read the original post correctly, the blinds were $1/$2 and you raised to $300?

The blind were 1 and 2 dollars, if they had 5 and 10 dollar chips, I would have raised about 50.00

I'm fairly certain we're all terribly confused right now.
How could you have blinds at $1/$2 when your smallest denomination chip was $100?
As for your raise, our advice was to raise 3-5x the BIG BLIND, not 3-5x the smallest denomination chip. In this case, it shouldn't have been more than $6-$10, although that sounds as if it were impossible.
Of course, the blinds sound impossible too.

Pocket rockets are the most deceivingly good hand in poker to be honest, none of them should of called a raise like that to begin with.

The blinds were 1 & 2 chips, which were white. I made a mistake in my earlier post. The white chips were $100.00 not $1.00 (I suck at math)
So the blinds were $100.00 and $200.00 ( 1 white chip for the small blind, and 2 chips for the BB.) The BLue chips were $500.00 and red were $1,000

Ok, now it's making more sense.
Question: Did you raise $300 or did you raise TO $300.
The first is ok (that would've been $500 to go), although I'd have liked to see a bigger raise to $600-$800.
The second is illegal. The minimum raise is $400 in that situation.
Most of this is speculation since I have no idea how many chips everyone started with.

I raised $300.00 I don't know how much everyone started with as when everyone arived to play, the chips were already waiting.

That whole Kenny Rogers thing about never counting your money at the table?
Bad idea.
ALWAYS KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE IN FRONT OF YOU!

Next time I play, I WILL count how much I have in front of me.
