Played a hand just a few minutes ago and a few of us were wonering what the odds are of this happening. None of us are any good at figuring odds so please help us.

Heads Up. Flop 7-8-10 rainbow

Player one goes all in with 6-9 for a straight

Player two calls with 8-Q for a pair. (why he called I don't know)

Turn 6
River 9

split pot.

Does anyone know what his odds after the flop of getting a split pot.

Thanks!

He had a better chance to win than to chop.

A little clarification since Sean could have written anything (and probably did Wink)

On the turn, a 6 or 9 is required but we know two are in play so the odds of that are 6/44. After that comes, we need one of the three 6s or 9s depending on the turn card which leaves 3/43.

6/44 x 3/43 = 0.95%

Sorry Sean, you suck my friend Smile

So the odds of that happening are even worse.

Thanks Geno!

52 cards in the deck...not 51. There are seven known, not six.

But, my calculations were wrong anyway. I did 6/45 x 5/44.

0.91%

I deducted the burnt card Confused

Also, how can 5 outs on the river be true in this scenario? If you need to hit on the turn AND river, by definition there must be only 3 outs left on the river right?

Yes, that's why I said my calculations were wrong. I was just explaining how I got my incorrect number the first time.

OK, I will stop highlighting your shortcomings as of now. Maybe.

Of all my shortcomings, this is pretty far down on the list. Smile

I hope my little pointless question didn't break up a friendship or romance or anything . . .

Thanks to both of you!
