Gordon that is) What is your opinion on him? I saw him have an interview on the Best Damn Sports Show and i think he said of the dumbest phrases.

If my memory serves me correctly, his nickname is Action Dan for a reason. In addition, i never thought of him as that good of a poker player.

Your memory serves u right, but what I bet u didnt know is even Dan Harrington says his nickname is pretty much and oxymoron because he is a rather tight player.
I believe he said so in a TV interview, i think during the WSOP.

When I saw him playing on the 4th season at a WPT FT he didnt seem terribly tight. Anyhow, my opinion is probably biased because I havn't liked him from the get go.

All I know is Phil Gordon is one of, actually probably the worst commentator on any poker show.
I actually enjoy Celebrity Poker, even though the players are mostly horrible. But I usually watch it on mute because I'd rather not hear Phil Gordon speak.
As far as his playing goes, he has a good grasp on ABC poker.

That I agree with. In terms of major cashes, i dont think hes made very many. Has anyone seen the faceoff poker? Its w/ hockey players and the commentators are even worse!

I don't really rate Phil Gordon in the world of poker pros. Sure, he's very, very good but he's not absolutely amazing and he never will be.

he's way overrated, dunno how hes on the full tilt team, hes got some personality to him though

He's moderately successful, he's some decent cashes in WPT and WSOP events. I've read his green book, its actually not that bad. It had a few good things about it. He isn't one of the huge stars but I do think he has some serious talent.

I've seen it. Absolutely horrible and yes, I agree that the commentators are terrible as well, but really when are they ever good?
I can't stand Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten on WPT, but the WSOP commentators (Lon and Chad I think the names are) are actually okay IMO.

I hate all the commentators actually except for the ones on High stakes poker. other than those 2, many of them seem pretty cocky and just plain annoying.
anyways phil gordon isn't really one of the top pro players, but get one thing straight. he knows the game better than a lot of other players because he understands it. the rest sometimes is up to the poker gods.

it's not an oxymoron it's ironic satire. but yeah - they're right. he's basically a rock by most mtt standards, hence the name.

He's on the full tilt team beacuse despite not being one of the greatest players, he is a big name in poker. Decent book, Hosting, winning a WPT event, not too shabby.

I actually dont like them... and i think mike sexton is a way better announcer simply becase he actually plays the game at one of the higher levels. ( At least he's better than Phil Gordon IMO)

I dont understand why so much hate. How can he be overated when nobody think hes a top pro(even himself, he state many time that hes an average pro).
Hes decent and make a good living from poker(and thing associated from it, ie books show etc) wich many cant say they do or could do.
Im not saying you should all love him and praise him but I dont see the need to bash him either. Hes not even cocky or anything.
