Well since I bragged it up in '05 i might as well come clean this year.
I had a bad year at the tables this year, very disappointing, a winning year, but without cashing big early in January it would have been very different.
My most obvious leak was definately in cash games, but not making it deep enough in tourneys also took its toll.
So end of the year total + $2000
Conclusion: must do better!

Pretty sure that I didn't really play poker til about March this year. Then I only played a little because I was so busy at work and probably broke even. Then I moved house on June 9th and was without Internet until late September. Since then, I've played only a small amount and have probably broken even. Not the best year

"breakout" year for me, but my mini downswing in december sort of makes me blind to the fact that i've actually done really really well overall.

breakout year for me too. Just passed the $70k mark last night.
On that note, let me thank all of you guys here for playing a large role in helping me improve this year. There is no way I could have accomplished what I did this year without the the thoughts and ideas from the THP crowd. So, thanks a lot for all your help and insight.

Somewhat of a roller coaster ride for me.
I've come out ahead for the year (I log all my play, cash games and tourneys), but I've had some huge swings.
I've taken down the largest pots in cash games that I've had in my life (biggest was a $3474 pot in 1/2 NL, yes you read that right, 1/2 - with 3rd pair on the board), took down more 1st places in tourneys in B&M's that I had in my life (avg 1 out of every 5 $200+ buy-in I played for the first 3/4 of the year; haven't played any buy-ins that level since Sept when I lost my job), took down 1st in a 10k freeroll on Absolute Poker (paid 5k), took 3rd in a 30k tourney on Bodog (paid $2760), but also went through some of the worst downswings I've ever had as well.
Lost $2500 at the Wynn when my pocket Aces got cracked, 3 times in 20 minutes, playing 2/5 NL. Had a $3000 loss playing 1/2 PL in a donkey game at a local shithole casino. And a few nights losing $1000-$1500 playing 1/2 & 2/5 NL as well.
Did okay in 5/10 NL, never logging any real huge wins (nothing over 1k), but never any losses in 5/10 either.
I was forced to buy a new (well, used) car, since the Ford Escort I was driving blew its motor one night on the way to Caesars. I replaced it with an Infiniti, but that hurt since it came straight from my bankroll.
Currently I'm stuck playing these donkey ass cheap tourneys (<$50), which I just cant win; I've been getting cold decked lately like you wouldn't believe, and I currently don't have a job so I don't really want to play above my means.
My goal for the next year is better BR management; I don't want to just keep my head above water, my goal is to just buy a small condo, and another car, possibly an Ariel Atom.
So that's the cliffs notes of my 2006 poker life.

Good year for me as well. Overall I won about $8k. On a bitch of a downswing at the moment though.

well at the start of the year i had no online bankroll... just the three $50 depostits that i lost at pacific and party poker. back then i was dreaming about not losing the $50, and making it a $100. that was BIG to me.... so i tried that on doyles room and boy it was a succes...... i closed the day yesterday with $2200.... so yeah.. the year has been pretty profitable and has surpassed my wildest imaginations and expectations.

Just discovered poker around April.
Made my first deposit on June and a few more since.
I'm currently about to make my fifth deposit - so I'm not even swinging, I simply riding downhill pretty fast.
I still hope to turn it all around and start making some money out of poker.
I do not necessary want to become a professional, but wouldn't mind being a stay at home dad and earn a little extra playing poker.

I withdrew most of my bankroll early in the year and lost the rest around summer. Since then I have been trying to bulid my online BR through freerolls and am up to around $55. I have won over a grand at my home game this year as well as a 1200 win at the casino and a couple 250-300 wins. so not bad but not the 70k like some but at my limits I'll take it.

My online bankroll took a few hits mainly due to drunken "I know! Let's all play a $X SNG & we'll rotate on the blind raises" nights. I originally deposited $50 on Stars, had it up to about $300 then the alcohol (and the boys) crushed that down to ~$11 I think. I've been nickel and diming my way back and am currently sitting at $82. I'm also up on FT, but the hubby usually plays on my account there, so I'm not sure where it is sitting at the moment. He claims he's still up, but I don't know the exact numbers.
In live play, I kept pulling cash out of my bankroll for something or other and didn't keep track of what I'd taken. In September (at least I think iot was in Sept-I kill a lot of brain cells) I started tracking my account. I'm currently up ~$350. I took a few huge hits early on, but have worked my way back up the ladder. I also staked a few players, which I thought might have been a horrible mistake , but turned out to be a profitable endeavor as they all pushed back the original stake and10% of their profits. I guess my confidence in their play was not unfounded.
All around, I'd say it was a profitable year, but not nearly profitable enough to quit my day job. Of course my investment was next to nil, so it's gained more for me than any of my other investments this year, though most have not reached maturity yet.

Up about 2 grand on the entire year including cash games and tournaments.
Posted Fri Dec 29, 2006 1:16 pm GMT by Jauron
Probably about the least amount of poker I've played in a few years, home games dried up pretty good and for some reason I won't expose my bankroll online so I don't play the stakes I'm used to there. I mainly use it for SNG's and MTT's.
So probably about 3k up.

made around $62k in online mtts and about £10-£15k in live tournament winnings. Lost at beggining of 2006 though which left me financially very low by my standards for several months.
Financially It's been very profitable and I feel I am a much better player. I also learnt the lesson that most players learn of playing too high. I did'nt get to play any big live events which is something I probably should have aimed for.
2007 I hope I get to play a few big live events through satelites, play more cash games ( at a limit I can play @), and continue to play live too. If I win as much next year as I have this year I can't complain....but I obviously will aim for more.

My first profitable year as player. I still have a lot to learn and a lot of stakes to move up to, but at least I feel like I'm heading in the right direction.

Not doing as well as supa or Ciso, but it's been a very good year for me. I feel that I've become a significantly better Poker player from Jun 06 - Dec 06 than from Nov 04 (when i really started) - May 06.
Don't know if I've really "broken through" yet, but hopefully I'll continue to do well, and the $5000 I've netted this year (after going busto in March) will improve to something like a $30000+ year in 07.
I'll detail this more in a Year in Review blog sometime in the next few days.

I've made about $15k in online mtts, and about £8k from live cashes in mtts. My game has improved immensely, and i have found the area in which i succeed most... mtts. I dont play nearly enough of them but this will change, and i need to keep far far away from online cash games. Time and again i will blow half my roll in nl online cash games. I dont know what it is about them but i just dont play properly... i mean i can do very well in them up to a point then before i realise whats going on i have lost about 6 buy ins. Must not play online cash games. Played a big live event in Scotland "scottish poker championships" with many professionals present and was not out of my depth at all, enjoyed the experience. Didnt end up playing any HUGE online mtts like the wcoop or UB events or any others, i aim to do this next year. Overall a good poker year and i can move on to next year and not bleed so much of my winnings.

I probably netted a couple grand. I kinda quit keeping track, short of knowing I haven't had to deposit this year and I cashed out a couple times.

started playing poker in 2006, first with my mates then play money then i managed to find a site to get free money on partypoker so i did that and since then ive managed to grind my way up to $750 playing micro stakes cash games. So id say 2006 went pretty well

I won my first MTT this year ($2 on Stars) for my biggest cash yet ($345). I've read many book, including HoH 1, 2, and 3, and I've learned a lot from poker forums like this one. I became a winning player in 2006. I'm on my way, building a nice little bankroll, and hopefully poker will become a good supplement to my income in the coming months and years.

Congrats, Kalbelgarion. If you get any home games together let me know. I'm only a couple hours south of ya.

Not as good as most of you. According to my records I cashed out just under $1k playing nickle/dime poker this year online. No good live games this year except free chipping it with family. So nothing major to report.
Cashed out my bankroll in the big poker scare of late 2006 and been building up at Doyle's ever since.
Last year was nothing to brag about, but overall I feel it was a good year learning wise.
Onward to an even better year this year. I think my News Years resolutions will help. That being to reread every book I have on poker plus some new ones I purchased or recieved for X-mas. Then once I got them read and think I got the games figured out, reread the damn things again.
