Casinos profit

First of all thanks for answering my newbie question a couple days ago with no sarcasism.

I have never played at a casino but will real soon. The question I have is how does the casino make their money off of me. Do they get a cut of every pot?

feel free to email directly

Every pot is raked, meaning the house takes a cut. It's no different than an online game, except the live rake is usually higher. 10% capped at $4 is pretty standard.

also some casinos will charge a fee instead. where you have to pay like say 5$ every hour to play. One casino I was in we had to pay 5$ every time the dealer changed. Needless to say I don't go there much.

in cash games (you can sit down and get up at any time) they take 10% w/ a cap....in tournament games, they take a fee, generally a tourney will cost you something like $100 plus a $10 fee...also they hope to get you drunk so you give away some chips at table games which are always in favor of the house....or better yet, slots...
