It's relatively early in a tournament. Starting stacks are $400,000 with blinds starting at 1000/2000. Blinds at this point were 3000/6000.
Hero: $300,000 in SB.
Villain: Covers (Fairly loose/aggressive) at UTG+1
Hero holds: 5 8
Villain limps from UTG+1.
Folds to Hero who completes the blind.
BB Checks.
FLOP: (pot is 18,000)
5 8 10
Hero leads out for 15,000
BB folds
Villain RAISES to 40,000
Hero goes ALL-IN.
So, my play was bad, or terrible?

Villian had 1010 or or 105? I can't say it was a terrible play but I can't say it was good. Given that large of a raise after the flop you had to think villian had some kind of hand. So from your post I have to think villian put you out on the first hand?

If you want to play for all your chips here, it's fine. Too many draws on the board to let him peel for free, and you're OOP to boot. Bottom two on a coordinated board is awfully hard to play on later streets when there are so few cards that don't weaken your hand.

seems fine, but raising to 150 would probably accomplish the same things. or 130?

Why such big denominations? What’s wrong with:
Starting chips 400
Blinds 1 & 2
Sorry I’m not vary good at maths and have trouble getting in this frame of mind without 4 hours of previous play accumulating those numbers. Whenever I see a situation like this I start by /1000 so my tiny brain can cope
Anyway so to the play. I wouldn’t mind knowing if this was a 6 or 10 table but with the info available I think you played it okay.
I can’t see an EP limper with 5T or 8T so I’d think 55, 88, TT are possible but AT or diamond diamond more likely.
I’d defiantly want to take it down here and now, but a 255K* raise into a 70K* pot might be too much. However I think I’m 65% sure I prefer this over a raise, just because I’m not sure if I’d fold or call a re-raise.

I agree. Smaller raise would likely accomplish the goal and may even let you get away if he pushes.

Thanks for the comments.
Villain is a fairly loose player preflop if he can get in cheap. Often limps with weak Aces, KT-KQ, QT, QJ, etc. I don’t remember how he plays low pairs, but I think he raises typically. So here is my thinking.
He limped preflop and then raised me on this board. He DOESN'T have TT since he would've raised. I also ruled out him having 55 or 88 since I had one of each (maybe incorrect, but I was just playing the odds). I put him on a hand like KT, QT, JT or maybe a couple diamonds, but he doesn’t typically semi-bluff so a raise is unlikely. If he had the flush draw, he would've just called.
So I put him on a strong Ten and figured he would lay it down.
Well, I was wrong all along and he is actually a lot LOOSER than I originally imagined. He flips over 8To for a higher 2 pair and I am gone.
I was thinking all along that I wished I hadn't pushed all in, but since his image of me is a very aggressive/ frequent bluffer, I don't think I could've folded if he comes over the top for all my chips.
The more and more I thought about it, I guess I don't dislike my play as much as I thought.
