How do you keep yourself cool and collected? |

I admit I am a competitive person and I hate losing, even when I am playing fake chips online, but I have difficulty compose myself after someone successfully bluffed me or after I had bad beat. Are there any tips to keep yourself cool and focus on the next game when you got beat bad?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

if thats the case, poker might not be our thing... you don't want to do something stupid and blow away your money...
you have to try to control it and keep calm so you can focus... i can't handle bad beats like you either, but there are ways... like taking a break until you know you are feeling better from that certain beat.

lol.
If you really can't compose yourself take a short break. Go on a run, shout on your women or take candy from a baby.

You at home behind the comfort of your computer screen I assume? Then freaking just let it blow...yell at the monitor...cuse the stupid arse who 1 outed you...no one will know unless you tell them which is utterly stupid to let them know. Then just set back and relax...you'll get their money soon enough when they make a horid mistake.
And if that doesn't work...go to Supas plan...drugs!! A good perscript for Xanax or Valium can work wonders on keeping you calm....

That guy's hilarious. Sounds like me in my drunken stupor last night when I got my K's cracked twice within 5 hands by A6o and 95o.
To the OP, if playing live, I tap the table, say "Nice hand, sir.", then, if it's a cash game and I'm not on the button or CO, I will step out for a smoke. It seems to help. I must admit that I feel better when I stand up and I'm wearing my tee that says "Nice hand, sir. And by hand I mean catch and by sir I mean moron." When that's the case, I do a nice stretch right as I stand up before I step away. But, I'm an evil, conniving bitch, so this may not be for you.
Drugs always help. I'm partial to vicoden.

I came across this video on You Tube yesterday! SOOOOO Funny, I couldn't stop laughing, I honestly can't decide if this is a joke or not.
"I can lose two buyins, there you go, god bless america, son of a god-damn bitch"
Hahahahah I love this man. More than life itself.
I am pretty much the most unemotional poker player I know, I don't really give a shit if I win or if I lose. If you are a good player and you are confident, when you lose you wont really be too pissed b/c you should know that you just gotta keep on going. Individual poker hands require lots of thought and decision making, but in the big picture, individual hands don't really mean all that much. 1 hand out of 20 000 is hardly even a percentage, so how can you even care about bad beats? Or even stupid mistakes? just stay cool and keep playing. And learn EXACTLY why you lost the pot, how your opponent got all your chips into the pot, how you could play it better next time, and how your opponent could have played his hand better. Maximize knowledge, minimize losses.

In the video he looks like he can see the other player cards at will at the end of the hand - is this right?

It's just a plugin that some poker players made that displays mucked cards instantly after at the end of the hand, as opposed to forcing someone to click the previous hand history. He doesn't get to see anything that everyone else doesn't also get to read.

Right. The way it looked was he go to see mucked cards even though he had (or I thought he had) mucked them face down.

Thats the definition of Tilt right there. That guy is hilarious, just goes to show how much confidence and attitude can effect the outcomes. Plus just shows how distorted your view can be when on tilt. Even though it was a video taken over however long, he did hit trips a couple times, yet in the video he said he never hits. Surely, some of them were tough beats, but that guy didnt do justice to himself, especially on the trip 3s.
I had a bit of that when i lost about 1/2 my BR 2 nights ago, luckily got just about it all back now.
For tilt, i would say just lower your limits for a while, or just get something to eat or do something else. you dont have to prove anything to yourself or try to win it all back at once, thats when you get really screwed.
Haha and apparently he isnt too smart. I almost feel bad for the guy because he aint to smart and he seems like a wreck if something doesnt go his way... not very healthy medically/socially.
