Omaha tourney -- good call??

Posted Thu Jan 11, 2007 4:44 pm GMT by mackkie
I was 9th in chips with 90 people left. This would have put me in the chip lead. I had TPGK which means nothing in omaha and a nut flush draw.
I dont play often enough to tell if this is a good call or not, I believe the pot odds were with me for the call though, correct?

Jam it up baby. That hand is what Omaha is all about, which is one reason I can't stand it. Laughing

Just an update, I won the tourney for $467.
$8 + .80 PL omaha with 213 entries.
Was 7th in chips going into the FT and ended up with a commanding chip lead after the blinds were 800/1600.
And for the record, I didnt donk out on anyone, pots were mostly folded to me Laughing

I don't know about this hand you know.

One thing though mackie, don't give the results of the hand if you want a true and accurate response.

I can tell from that action that at least one of these players will have a set most of the time and with this action TP will mean absolutely nothing.

So you are now only playing with a naked NFD against 2 players all in. The other guy who bet 1k will call almost all the time seeing as he just stuck half his chips in the pot and is now getting great odds to call.

I don't think you have any redraws here so with just a NFD I think this is not really a no brainer.

If you put another guy on a FD (Possibly goofer) then you cannot call this because you simply just don't have enough outs.

I think your best bet here is to hope they have a set of 8's and 3's so you can do some funky Turn A River J shit on them.

Omaha is probably my worst game so i may be talking crap, but I don't think you should call here even more so in a tournament seeing as you only invested 150 chips.

The pro's for calling here though is you do have a lot of chips so it's not going to cripple you while it will move you up the ladder a bit and knock out two opponents.

Even so I think I'd just fold this.

Hmmm, I just read the results and saw that a) You didn't win the hand, I thought you did and b) Goofer had a FD and the other guy a set.

Makes my analysis look nice and orientated now even though I didn't read the results. o/

Thinking about this hand a bit more it is definetly a fold.

I just realised with a board like A83(2d's) then what can the other players have to risk their tournaments with?

If the board was something like A87 then there is a chance there that they have a wrap around with a FD or something and then the decision is difficult, but with A83 I think this is an easy fold.

I would tend to agree with you there. I actually thought the blinds were bigger than they were because the pot was so huge. I figured someone would call with AK or something and either give me a chance for a flush or 2 pair, but with 3 people in the pot I should have known trips was out there.

I thought their stacks relative to the pot size would have caused them to do something crazy to get that pot. It was pretty obvious the guy who went all in with Kd2d tried to do something crazy to win that one.
