OMG! Those players were so freaking passive. Is that normal?

Posted Fri Jan 12, 2007 2:16 am GMT by Biowza

Posted Fri Jan 12, 2007 2:25 am GMT by supafrey

People playing underrolled and scared maybe?

An idea for you Supa, How about playing a couple hours of 25NL sometime and posting the results to maybe show people that the Low Stakes minefield is actually easier or harder than what you are playing now.

Maybe put to rest the argument by many that low stakes is harder to beat because of the chasing donks.

I really have no interest in solving that debate. If anyone at low stakes thinks they can beat us then come sit down and buy in. I'm not stopping you.

I'm just trying out these stakes for a bit. Even from my ultra small sample (<2k hands) I know they don't usually play quite like this..

nice 10 mins of agression supa. Some of those pots are pretty sick agression though, 1 problem with that is that people wont really give u credit for a hand that often so you should slow down sometimes, cos other sessions people will trap you for alot of money when you keep firing.
That 1st hand for instance was really strong courageous agression but when he calls the turn bet its boardering on insanity betting the river. Still well played all the same and I reckon you could play at those stakes succesfully if you play shorthanded but tone down the agression a notch.

If I had a choice of playing players who chase gutshot straights for PSBs to the river, vs. players who 3-bet, and 3 barrel bluff 9 high, I'd much rather play the first type.

Let's be honest guys, a lot of us have played vs. supa in our little THP tournies, but I don't know of anybody who has sat down with him in a cash game and beaten him at his own game.

You can say whatever you want about how he answers posts sometimes, but his play deserves respect.

I agree totally. Noyone can beat him at his game, but you could defeat this style simply by check/calling top pair. I have played with him at a cash game before and was impressed with the way he plays and when he hits he can make money if you hit , but can also lose alot when your opponent has made a hand.....Profit lies in the fact that your opponent dont make a strong hand as much as they miss so money is there to be made playing so agressively. I am just saying there is even more money to be made once in surrendering pots when called pre flop then post flop or turn aswell. I reckon one could save more money checking rivers where they may feel they have to continue following through ( which is difficult to do when you put so much money in the pot). Good luck Pav btw at those stakes, I am confident you can run over those guys especially if they play like that in your vid.

yep.
Supa is probaly the best Pure Agression player there is here

great little vid.

Of course, not much us micro stake player can learn from, but still fun to watch.

Though often, I see maniacs in the micro table. As a scared poker player, I don't mind them. Usually they are stupid enough to give you their all stack once you have a monster Smile

Aggression is the key though. I hate playing against smart aggressive player.

That is the best post on THP this year.

I guess my impression is that the other players at the table are a bunch of wussies. Looks like they were waiting for a lock to come over the top and in SH, you can't do that. Other than FD boy on the first hand, they were lambs.

I like the aggression supa and you would be an extremely difficult player to handle at the table. But, I do think that if you choose to move to 10/20 from there or even on some of the other 5/10 games, you won't be able to run roughshod over everyone. You will have to use your ability to change gears more.

Posted Fri Jan 12, 2007 10:16 am GMT by supafrey
heh believe it or not I'm not like this with every table / all players. The main thing (only thing?) I've been concentrating on with this little 5/10 experiment is table selection. I didn't even really know what the words meant up until about a week ago (honestly) because I could never really figure out what kinds of tables were most profitable for me.... I think I'm starting to get it a little bit now.

Again, I've only got a couple thousand hands at the stakes though. I'll talk more when I have like.. 50k ....

And this video was really just for fun, i guess. I randomly decided to make it on a whim, and these just happened to be the next 8-10 minutes that followed. It was a strange but awesome coincidence.

I stick by the third barrel in the first hand, btw. ^_^

The rest of the hands just sort of played themselves.

anyone with metacafe accts better be rating that video 5 stars, btw!!!

(Or just make one and rate it - it takes about 5 seconds to reg an acct)

if theyre GOOD maniacs they will notice you are a tighty scared player and wont pay you off... at least i wont. and ive been called a "maniac" lots of times, and by far my favorite: "jammy kid" Smile

My question is why you go with the "plain" background on Full Tilt. I find I play much better with the "beach" design.

Although for tournaments, I do use the last one that is mostly blue and black.

He used to be my hero.

I can't view the video here, but will check it out on the home computer.

Great show of aggression. The thing that impressed me was that Kristina chick on the left of the website...she had some moves that just totally excited me... Smile

About the poker. All I can say is those guys were just feeding you. Great aggressive style. YOu got more balls then I do to try those bluff moves but then again I play in the limits were every donk thinks they are king aggressor.... Laughing

I'll be looking for more of your vids.

Hey Gumbie and Crack...how about some from you guys too?

Posted Fri Jan 12, 2007 8:57 pm GMT by efram
Haven't watched the vid yet, but I will. I learned some from your last vid posts Pav so thanks.

I'd like to see more of these vid type posts. Youtube would be another good site to post vids.

Shorn, Crack, Cisco, Gumbie, DCx, I'd like to see all you guys post vids on here. Even having another section , pokervids, would be handy. Get them all isolated and easy to find.

I think its a great learning too and gives us low stakes people a chance to witness you higher stakes players. With audio comment it really allows into the thought process as the hand plays out. One thing I noticed in Supa's last vids was it was hard to follow the multi-multi table action. I think limiting the tables to 2 or 3 makes it easier to follow and learn from. Keep em coming Pav and how bout some from you other power players on here?

I can’t believe he made all those calls right to the river then folded Shocked Especially considering the odds he was getting.

I’m very surprised such passive players were playing 4 handed.

Nice video, maybe you should move the mic away from your mouth when playing, unless you have like asthma. Sounded like you were struggling to finish a double quarter pounder

a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B. I'll move it away next time.
