for sngs, and to some extent tournaments in general, your VP$IP (voluntary put $ in pot) should depend on blind levels, that is, when the blinds are low your VP$IP should be low, probably 20 for 6-person, 10 for 10-person (these are AVERAGES over many hands), and as the blind levels go up, and people get eliminated you should start to loosen up, steal the blinds and eventually get into push/fold mode when the blinds go up

it also depends on how tight or loose the table is.

on a 10 seater sng, when the blinds first start, i usually play 1 hand in 20, although i admit this is probably too tight. then as the blinds increase i loosen up.

having said that, i've played 2 sng in the last few weeks where i was playing 9 hands in 10. of this i was probably raising 5 or 6 of them. the table was so tight nobody wanted to play. once again, this is probably too extreme.

I wasnt aware that there was a set % of hands i should be playing, I play hands dependant on cards and position.
