continued betting after the river.

Hey, total noob question, after the turn of the river, I've read theres one final round of betting, does this mean that people cant continue to raise each other more than once after the final card is dealt ? can they literally only bet once ? Sorry if this doesnt make much sense, my explanation leaves alot to be desired i know.

A round of betting means betting, raising, reraising, as much as allowed under house rules until a bet is just called.

presumably this can only happen after the river, cause otherwise you might not get to deal the rest of the cards ??

now you lost me.

The rules for each round of betting are the same. Betting is preflop, post flop, after the turn and after the river.

I'm trying to follow the question too but if you mean the amount of bets people can make, most games have a four bet max. Meaning pre-flop, after the flop, on the turn, and on the river, a person bets and his bet can be raised, that bet can be raised, and that bet can be raised capping the bets there. Am I even close to what you're asking?

hehe, Sorry about all the confusion, I dont think I could have worded my question worse if I'd tried. I've since cleared up the question, I was being quite idiotic. Thanks for all your help, I'll try to be more inteligeble next time Wink

It is still confusing but to answer your question, the "final" round of betting is just that, it's the last round of betting before players show their cards.

1: Blinds
2: Receive 2 cards
3: Betting round 1
4: Flop
5: Betting round 2
6: Turn
7: Betting round 3
8: River
9: Betting round 4 (the "final" round of betting)

The fourth round of betting is the "final" round of betting simply because it is the last step. All the cards are out and the only thing left to do is for everyone to show your cards. The last round of betting has the same rules and works the same way as the other rounds of betting. The only difference is that this is the last round of betting and after this everybody shows their cards, which is why it's called the "final" round of betting.
