Who wins?

This may be a stupid question but who wins. If there are 2 pairs on the board, but he has a higher kicker then me, does he win? Or or do we do we split the pot? I can't seem to remember if the kicker affects this.

best 5 cards. 4 cards for the 2 pairs, then the kicker plays.

if the board is 5599J and you have a K and your friend has a A, then 9955A beats 9955K. Keep in mind if your friend has a J in his hand he wins with a better 2 pair.

Also don't forget that the high kicker can be on the board. If the board is 5599A and you have KQ and your friend has TJ then the Ace on the board plays and you split.

If board is 5599J and you have KQ and your friend has KT then each king plays , the Queen and Ten don't matter, and you split.

If the board is 5599K and you have KQ and your friend has KT then you each have KK99 and your Queen outkicks your friend's Ten and the 55 doesn't count.
