Agree with Ciso here, dunno why supa got shat on when other people (technically including me ... i suppose? posted nearer the end of that thread).
Tony knows I don't agree with some of the stuff supa says around here, but that thread he just made certainly isn't a good reason to even temp ban him.
There have been some people who were a serious determent to the forum, i.e. bluef0x and mikenike, but they never really contributed much. Every so often supa decides to teach us something, he isn't a douche all the time, and I suppose I take him too seriously sometimes

As someone who also mods a very busy forum I know how hard it is to control forum wars.
However, when ever we do it we quickly close the annoying thread, set it to invisible (or trash it) and then contact the offending members privately before banning them if necessary.
By posting the threat on the thread one actually engages in the last word war instead of preventing it!
You mod should know you represent THP and thus act accordingly. In the forum I help mod we made a special board just for mods where we can bitch and moan about all the annoying members and avoid doing it publicly.

Without adding a lot of verbosity to this, let me just say that Supa is pretty much spot on IMO, and as I was the major perpetrator of the whole original thread (a JOKE, people) I will say that I am sorry the thread went where it did. Looking back I can't figure how people couldn't see right away it was a JOKE, but oh well.
Supa provides pretty much the best poker content here, and no way does he deserve a ban for what he posted.

I have to agree with this. I also have to agree with Darling. The situation (I wouldn't even clarify it as a situation, it was a joke!) was handled wrong by the moderator(s). The moderator should have discussed the matter via PM instead of openly on the forum. It was just handled horribly and very unprofessionally.

I read the thread. The funny thing about the net and IM is that you really can't always get a feel for the true tone of a person's statement. For example, Sean is notoriously sarcastic (and my idol for this  ), but one cannot always grasp when he is or is not being sarastic. My point is that one's statements can be taken the wrong way and interpreted incorrectly unless it's followed by a UAU emoticon. Yes, I know they give most of us headaches, but it is helpful to follow a "joke" with at least a "lol" or a *wink wink* or something. Not everyone knows the humorous tone in which you posted.
I didn't know if that particular thread was a joke or not, but since I don't take but a few things seriously, I took it as one.
In defense of the mods and admins on THP, I must say that they've done so many things for this forum and done such a spectacular job since I have been a member, that I cannot hang them for this one circumstance. IMO, they still rock.
I still love supa to death (sometimes literally  ) and leafs has been an excellent contributor as well. Perhaps instead of posting a thread bashing the mods, a PM or email discussion may have had a better impact on "Freeing" those two posters? Just a thought.

Just to clarify some things:
Leafs is not banned, at no time was he in danger of being banned by me, we were having a(nother) disagreement. That's ok. Tony decided (rightly, that it had gone on long enough and asked us both to cease. We did, that was the end of that.
Supa is not banned either, He has been give a 3 day time out, he will be able to come back when that time is up. (if he chooses to) The reason Tony did this (i presume since I haven't spoken to Tony yet) are because yet again supa started a thread dragging sh*t up.
Apart from that you guys are completely correct.

Leafs was not banned, nor did any of us contemplate banning him. He was not walking away from a heated conversation after stating that he would do so and was just given a nudge in the right direction.
As far as supa goes, all i'm going to say is that there was more to it than the brokeski thread. If he hadn't felt the need to post another thread to get the last word in he most likely would not have been disciplined. Even after being given a time-out he just HAD to say something else and registered another account so he could post. That alone is worthy of a permanent ban on most other foums. He constantly treats the mods/admins (and most other members) of this forum disrespectfully. This is NOT tolerated on any forum that i've been a member of. We have given him chance after chance and I think part of the reason he feels so bold is that he knows a bunch of people will rush to defend him anytime we discipline him. Has it ever occured to anyone that there is more to this supa stuff than most people know? 1. For all intents and purposes I was asked to comment by leafs, and the thread was ABOUT me. It blew up in the few days I was away without me clarifying very much of anything. I stayed away from the fight and STARTED a new discussion. I wasn't trying to get the last word at anything. You're wrong.
2. I had to register to post about how unfair and petty and childish and egotistical your decision was. To say that it was unjustified doesn't scratch the surface. Everyone that has read the full story so far has laughed at you.
3. As much as I afford you basic courtesy, neither you nor any of the other mods have done anything to garner respect. It must be earned, not given over just because you have super powerz on a web forum.
4. Is it possible that this is because of the stupidity of your action and lack of reason, rather than some strange sort of fanboyism that you seem to think i possess? You made a bad decision and everyone that read it knows it - that is why they have "stuck up for me". In reality they're not sticking up for me, they're simply saying that what you did was wrong. You've been on IRC a few times... most of THP has a grudging lack of respect for me - I have no "fans" like you seem to think. You're blinded to the reasoning behind their actions through some pompous sense that being a mod somehow affords you a solomon-esque standard of what is right/wrong.
5. Absolutely none of these complaints have been passed on to me, not even anonymously. If I was doing any sort of action that warranted attention, a proper course of action would have been a PM to me or a public post for all I care. I call BS on your "sick and tired" members. You're trying to justify your course of action with some hazy garbage that noone could ever verify, recall or believe, without providing any rational reason for. Congrats.
And about "making another acct"... Lets say hypothetically that jaywalking resulted in a 3 day prison sentence. This is naturally unfair, so while in prison I speak out against the jailers, unknowingly speaking against the government and warranting a death sentence. Would it be fair to use the second case to prove the validity or "fairness" of the first?
You guys speak about the fact that no mods have made people leave. You are wrong. Not only have several other members done it (not to mention how many ppl must have never gone beyond lurking for these very reasons) but I've considered doing the very same in the past for these reasons. That sort of refutes webby's whole argument as well, no?
If I get banned for this I'm going to laugh. The mods here are a joke.
