when do you decide to move up in stakes? |

I've recently found myself in a dilemma... at the end of dec I made the switch to full time 50$NL (no more dropping back down unless I get to 10xbuyin)... my bankroll is 1000$ so that's where I should be playing...
but here's my problem... I still haven't really found my groove in this limit (so far I'm losing money at this lvl but haven't even broken the 5k hands mark so this could just be variance) BUT in jan. I have had the most profitable month since I starter 2 years ago... the well publisized 2 MTT FTs as well as some nice cashes at the casino netting myself almost 3k in Jan alone.. I've put at least half of this winning directly into my BR and now it's over 2K...
my question is... even though I'm losing for now at my current lvl should I move up to accomidate my BR?
it's not that I wouldn't be comfortable at the 100$NL lvl online seeing as I play 1/2 NL at the casino, but rather should I play it proper and make sure I can win at the 50$NL first?... (get in over 10-20k hands)
the way I managed it in the past is if I get to 40x buyin for the stakes I'm at I move up... if I get down to 10x the buyin then I move down... the problem is I've never made so much so fast...

Definitely play NL50
Lets say you have 1K online, stay wtih NL50 until you have about 2.5K
If you multi-table, take baby steps, grind away until you're up to about 2K, then maybe play 3 tables of NL50 and 1 table of NL100.
If you have between 2-3K in your online bankroll, play 2 tables of NL50 and 2 of NL100. If you're getting overwhelmed or tilting or frankly not playing optimal poker, stay with NL50.
If you haven't grinded your way up in cash games to build your bankroll, stay at NL50 (for example, if you're break-even for 10K hands in cash games and +1.2K in tournaments, start low and really learn how to play deep-stacked NL)
Good luck! Congrats on the upward motion, I'll be with ya soon

If you were smart like most of us, you would roll your entire BR into 1 table $5/10...thats what I would do.
Like Exit said, id multi table prob 2 tables right now at $50NL and grind it out. Im pretty sure you wont find the skill level increasing at this limit. You will see the same kind of players at $0.10/0.25 that you will at 0.25/0.50, the only difference being most people are putting their entire BR on the line hoping to double up at these stakes...
you have proven yourself to be a good player if you can grind your way up to $1,000 at 0.10/0.25 online, dont feel like you are over your head moving up in this limit, id be willing to bet that you are better than 95% of the people at this limit anyway.

from my personal experience tryin to go from 50 to 100, it doesn't seem like the skill difference is terribly great, but due to the aggressiveness of players / increased regulars there is more variance
of course im probably just saying this cause i tilted off 4 buyins over a few hundred hands of play ...

see.. this is where my problem comes in... i've HAVE grinded my BR up over 1k at the .10/.25 and I AM 2 tabling .25/.50... my bankroll IS over 2500$..
my ptBB/100 at .10/.25 before moving up is 7.5ptBB/100 over 10k+ hands... and I've got over 25k hands under my belt...
this is why I think I should be playing the hand I've been delt... the poker gods want me in higher stakes so I'ma think I'ma skip the 50$NL... I'm kinda looking for reasons why I shouldn't...
also I'm thinking of dropping down to strictly 1 tabling... I find I'm not paying as much attention as I should be to the game... I'm not reading or watching tv or anything like that... It's just I've been noticing since I've been playing live in the casino more that my reads are far better there... I'm starting to think that I could be learning more from playing 1 table at a time...
I'm not playing for money... I'm playing to win... money is just a way of keeping score... hey... that's not a bad sig..

1-2 online is not the same game as in casinos... trust me. It's a pretty wild game in casinos.
I would say try NL100 and see for yourself.
If you can beat NL100, why waste your time at NL50. If you lose a few buy-ins, come back to NL50, where you definitely have enough bankroll to play. If you don't feel ready for NL100, nobody's forcing you, stay where you feel better. A $50 win is always better than a $100 loss.
gl mate!

yeah... I'm prob going to start 1 tabling .50/1$ online... I know online and live are two completely different games (at the same stakes I mean)...
1 tabling will prob help me from getting overwhelmed too fast... and you never know... maybe my ptBB/100 will go up cause I'll be actually paying attention to betting patterns and stuff like that again....
