Ok so I was playin poker over at my buddys house, And the hand was heads up with me and this other Gal. There was a pair on the board. There was also a jack, which the other person and I both had. So we both ended up with Jacks and 7's. She had a 4 in her hand and I had a 2 in mine, After a huge arguement, it was determined that she won the hand because her "in the hole" or "down" Kicker was higher. However, there was also an ace on the board. Now i always thought it was the BEST 5 cards between both your down cards and the up cards. If this were true shouldnt it have been a split pot, because both of our BEST hands would have been j's, and 7's with an ace. So were they right or should it have been a split pot?
Sorry bout the long explaination but I was baffled by this. I was sure it was a split pot but i was overruled, by people who have no REAL hold 'em experiance. And i watch it all the time on tv and play all the time, please help. And if you need me to clear any fuzzy parts up please let me know.

Grr, that was a huge chunk of my change, I still made it to 2nd place and knocked her out but its in my nature (as it is in most male's natures) to always be right. And this time I was. I tryed searching google but couldnt find a rule for this specific incident. Does anybody know where i can print out something to prove this so that this type of thing wont happen again?

I just got bitch slapped
We have a normal and a print friendly version of Robert's Rules on this very site..........

Robert's Rules doesn't say anything about "what beats what."
whogivesa_89: I can't help you if you're looking for something "official." Perhaps try going to one of the well known Vegas casino web sites and seeing if they have game rules available online?
Honestly, I would send an e-mail to the person with whom you had the dispute and tell them to look it up. The internet is a wonderful thing. Anyone should be able to find what they're looking for in just a few minutes.
