OKay, ftops is coming soon and i thought it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to the members of thp who are going to fly the flag.
I will personally be trying to play the majority of them, i think craig and ciso will be in a few too. Post anything related to ftops u want

im in event #3
Posted Tue Feb 06, 2007 3:13 pm GMT by cayouche
I'll try to get in a few of them, for sure. I'm aiming at the ME however. $1.5M Gu.?? I'm in!!
Posted Tue Feb 06, 2007 3:44 pm GMT by LeafsFan1122
Maybe I'll try to qualify for a cheap one.
Posted Tue Feb 06, 2007 4:02 pm GMT by cayouche
Try their super satellites. From $6, win a few $24+2 tokens, then you have $26 satellites for pretty much all of them.
Posted Tue Feb 06, 2007 4:03 pm GMT by LeafsFan1122
Yeah cool. The $8 satelites to the $26 tokens are extremely easy - i'll round up a cuple tokens and try to win a STT for the seat of FTOPS Event #3.

i'm guessing this is something going on on FT?

It's like Pokerstar's WCOOP, just a bit smaller.
Posted Tue Feb 06, 2007 7:07 pm GMT by Ensano
hmmm.... might be time to make a small deposit...
Posted Tue Feb 06, 2007 8:36 pm GMT by crack
I plan to play all the events except for the PL Holdem/Omaha one and the NLH 6 max.
Started qualifying last night and so far I am in for events #1 #5 #8 Hoping tonight I can get qualified for #2 and #6 (Omaha Hi/Lo and HORSE)
Posted Tue Feb 06, 2007 9:41 pm GMT by crack
Scrap that, I just noticed event 5 is the NLH 6 max. : Looks like I am playing that too.
Posted Tue Feb 06, 2007 11:32 pm GMT by mackkie
I think i am going to play in event #1. Ill try to get a seat in a sat. tourney, but i may directly buyin too. How many people can i expect to find registered for the tourney when it actually starts up?
Currently there are 421 signed up and 153 prizes paid, i would guess 700-800 total?
Posted Tue Feb 06, 2007 11:58 pm GMT by crack
Their sunday usually gets around 800.
Posted Wed Feb 07, 2007 2:23 pm GMT by cayouche
800?? Last few times I played they had way more than than. Last 200+16 had 2100 entries, and the last 500+35 had 1200 players.
I would expect at least the same numbers.
Posted Wed Feb 07, 2007 9:55 pm GMT by crack
Oh, well I played the sunday 300k last Sunday and I thought there was only about 800 in. Perhaps there was more. I didn't pay much attention because I was deep in the Stars Mil.
Posted Wed Feb 07, 2007 10:13 pm GMT by Ciso_B
I am gonna buy directly into alot of the events too. Looks like fun and alot of money if you do well.
Posted Wed Feb 07, 2007 10:38 pm GMT by ninetensuited
i got into event 3 for 300 FT points and im halfway to event 5 for 250 points
Posted Wed Feb 07, 2007 10:43 pm GMT by mackkie
With event #1 the # of entries to prizes paid doesnt make sense, ~150 paid to ~460 entered...They must be planning on a lot more entrants thru satellites(sp?). If this number stays around 650 or so entrants (prob not, but i hope so), im in for that one.
Posted Thu Feb 08, 2007 5:39 pm GMT by MrDarling
Thanks to this thread decided to give this a go as well.
Played 250 FTP 6 player NL qualifier and crushed it. So now I'm in the 1500FTP qualifier to event #5
Played the 130 FTP limit horse (though am not good at most other games)
Got to 2nd. The winner was out for 20 min of the game. came back when we were 3 left. and crushed us in one level of FL Holdem. Was very aggressive but and won in like 7 hands. Every crap he played hit.
FL is weird.
Am not going to buy direct, but if I manage to qualify - I might give it a go!
Good luck all.

You will have to because I don't think if you sat in you ca unregister. If yoiu can please someone tell me how, I don't want to play NLH6handed!
Posted Fri Feb 09, 2007 5:30 am GMT by MrDarling
contact support, but I doubt you can sale it, or transfer it.
Maybe let someone else play with your account if you really don't fair well in those?
Why not play 6 handed?
I do fairly good in 6 handed S&G (actually cash 4/5 times)
Posted Fri Feb 09, 2007 7:01 am GMT by crack
Yeah I can get someone else to play it, but I'd rather have the $200 and buy into the HORSE event or something. I just don't have enough experience with the 6 handed mtt's.

Or Event #2 tomorrow, HORSE.
Posted Sat Feb 10, 2007 2:44 am GMT by MrDarling
JUst logged in for a couple of minute to see how long Event #1 is playing and saw Huck Seed bust at place 72.
Poor guy pushed allin on the button after UTG raise. He had AK and never improved against UTG's Q's. Next hand He pushes again with K's, BB calls with A's...
Posted Sat Feb 10, 2007 1:33 pm GMT by ninetensuited
sounds like he hit my run of cards!
Posted Sat Feb 10, 2007 2:29 pm GMT by MrDarling
Did you manage to cash?
btw, took few little peeks into the tournament to see how long it took and how the game is.
Was surprised to see very little blind stealing - maybe one per orbit. 18 to go big stack was 4 times second stack in the table and he really didn't push people around. Weird.
one particular hand, SS button open pushed, BS SB re pushed and mid stack took a long time claiming he had A's and folded. Someone agreed its the right move according to Sklansky. WTF?

In one of Sklansky's books he mentions a specific situation where folding QQ and maybe KK is correct but only for an extremely specific purpose.
The player probably read the book and completely misunderstood.

Out of Event 2 fairly like 1hr 1/2 in. A-A-2-5 (double suited) vs Q-Q-2-6 during the Omaha Hi/Lo Level.
Craig carrying the flag on. Back to nlhe tommorow...yay.
Posted Sat Feb 10, 2007 8:36 pm GMT by crack
Busted out.
Not a good run of cards.
Lost big pots in Stud8 when my 7654 on 4th bricked and in Razz when my 6 lo draw got owned by a rivered wheel.
Final hand went out with a pair of tens with big kickers against two flush draws.
Posted Mon Feb 12, 2007 2:41 am GMT by Ciso_B
Just finished 14th out of 2700 people in the Event 3 $300 NLHE. $6,100 will comfort me tommorow or maybe day after, but slightly disapointed in going through the minefield of players (adjusting remarkably well) to bust out AQ vs KQ.
I played completely different to my normal mtt game and almost made the FT which had $150k for 1st place which is pretty sick.
I ran my luck here and there short stacked but I had my share of bad luck too. I may not get a chance soon to win that kind of money but Its nice to cash after what has been a poor week or 2.
Roll on Omaha Rebuys.
Special mention to Craig and Aelred who took bad beats early on , I know how they feel getting really unlucky event 1 and partially event 2. Good luck in the next events guys. And Thanks to all of the thpers who railed. Appreciated.

I hate the fact that most of these events start 3am my time...
tonight I need to play a qualifier to event 3.30 am . and if I do make it to the last 36, then event 5 is at 4 am...
Should have probably checked this out before starting the qualifier chain..
congrats on cashing Neeb. its always better then not! And it probably paid for all your FTOS buyin

i was able to rail until there were about 20 people then i just passed out MilkyPirate said you played great until 14. Good job
Posted Mon Feb 12, 2007 2:16 pm GMT by MilkyPirate
Yeah, well played Ciso...too bad you got outted AQ vs KQ. With the blinds as they were, they didn't leave enough room for post flop play and at any time even an 100K stack with blinds 8/16K was still a threat (so pretty much it was almost anybodies game). Too bad the cards didn't fall your way (at least you outlasted the 94assface guy).
BTW nice laydown with AQ when the guy showed KK (I'm also curious as to what you had when the board read "royal flush").
Also everytime you flat called somebody I was like "OMG have AA and pwn him!"...but that's what I'm like as a railbird. It seemed as though your flat calls and all in raises varied depending on players/position and you were (so it seemed to me) playing very solid poker and I wished you could've won.
Oh well there's always the Main Event...
Posted Mon Feb 12, 2007 5:00 pm GMT by Ciso_B
Had A-5 that hand Milky. I thought he was checkraising the flop so I checked behind to see what happened on turn, when he checks again I had him on a medium/small pocket pair and had to take a shot.
Yea I had to adjust to the field of LAGs so I felt tighter play would be more rewarding for me. 41st on the Ftops leaderboard, $6100 and still a fair few events left- still might get another result too. So not done yet.

Playing the PLO Ciso?
It's probably my worst game and I have to play it so get on IRC tonight. Starts 2am our time.
Posted Tue Feb 13, 2007 2:31 am GMT by Ciso_B
Just finished 22nd/600 in FTOP event 4. Pot limit omaha rebuys. I spent $500 in total and cashed for $900.
I had the privilege of playing with Wolfe, Cunningham and Patterson through, Allen Cunningham busting me for a huge huge pot late on which is FT material chips. My Qd Jd 10d Ah vs his K K J J on a K 7 9 flop. I had him on trips to be honest but realised with 2 cards to go and the chance to potentially win had i won the pot meant pushing all in. Two bricks and hes got the pot.
I had some help from Craig which I am appreciative of and I guess I have to be pleased coming so deep in succession especially at a game I am not really at all experience in. I ran my luck here and there which is obvious when theres 600 people and Pl omaha but again a slight feeling of disapointment. Coming this far again , just to fall at the last hurdle.($50 for first) is a bit rough but eh.
Roll on Event 5....No Limit Hold Em 6 handed. Think this event will suit me alot, I might be even higher in the Ftops leaderboard now too. So who knows?
Posted Tue Feb 13, 2007 2:49 am GMT by crack
I busted out just after the rebuy with AKKJ versus QQ65 AIPF. They naturally turned a straight. Oh well.
Posted Tue Feb 13, 2007 3:21 am GMT by mackkie
Ciso, 14th in the leaderboard...pretty impressive. 142 points, leader has 249. After u come in top 3 in the 6 handed event, ull be on top of that board in no time.
Posted Tue Feb 13, 2007 4:28 am GMT by MrDarling
was all geared up to play the qualifier for event #5 .
Went to sleep early , put my alarm to 3am and was ready to play by 3.30.
Doh, the game started 2.30 am and I was blinded out. what a fish. Can't even calculate the time difference.
I might decide to "buyin" direct to the next qualifier for event #5... nothing else I can do with these FTP points...

both kompis and I are out of tonight's 6 handed event. I busted in 700ish.
Ciso is still in with one of the chipleads. =O
I only watched a few of his hands, but AA vs AQ on Q22 really helped him out. Gets him up to 30k+ with avg still at 9. Yowza.
Posted Wed Feb 14, 2007 1:17 am GMT by Ciso_B
Just finished Event 5 under my Ciso alias. Ended up busting out like 144th i think out of 2070 runners for $400 i think. Had some nice hands early on which aided me in building up from what i thought allowed me to play more then previous events.
Then lost a bit pot at the time, $38,000 chip pot when my Qs9s lost to AJ on a A Q 9 flop, when a J turned.
Then busted out with 10s Js on a 8 9 4 flop, my opponent and me all in, him showing 8 5 , turn 5, river 5. Nice. I am in sound shape on flop, if i win there im back to average chips and game back on but it wasnt to be .
I feel a bit like a dickhead cos i made 3 consecutive cashes in these ftops but not made a final table and not made a huge score, $6,100 is a nice cash dont get me wrong but relative to how much is in the top 5 spots its not really.
Still I am proud to go through another huge field and get a result. Unlikely I play tommorow events to be honest since I dont think ive got much chance in omaha hi lo but we ll see how i feel.
My other account hasnt been fixed yet and no response to my emails yet, all this work could be for nothing in the end.
Sigh

You can't call them because they don't have phone support except for depositing. Ciso email them with the address that you have "Ciso" registered as, that's the best way.
I let a friend play the 6 handed event for me last night and he busted 28th with a 60/40
Oh well.
Posted Wed Feb 14, 2007 4:03 am GMT by MrDarling
Ciso , it sucks you had to play under a different name. Will ruin your Chart success.
However, damn, 3 cashes.. You should really start saving for the WOSP
Posted Thu Feb 15, 2007 11:38 pm GMT by kompis
Played the $200 rebuy event as a freezout really couldnt rebuy as the deposit limits set on my a/c restricted me to only $400 (allready spent $200 yesterday) and - the reg fee that left only $184.. not enough for a rebuy.
Did pretty well tho was up to about 5k with blinds at 80 160, i raised on the button with AdKd and a short stac moved in from the SB for aout 2k i called he had AJ and flopped the J. THen i get moved table and find AdKs again, i raise it up in EP bb calls flop comes Qd9d10h, he checks and i check behind him - he defo had sumthign to call me with preflop and i dont want to spunk off my remainig stack on a continuation bet that i am fairly sure wont go thru. turn comes Jd he checks to me again.. i make a small bet and he calls... river comes 8h and he bets about 500 into the pot of about 2k. i have about 2k left at this point and decide to get some value from my hand, hoping he has the K or thinks im just pushing and he calls to split... i move all in and he cassl with Kd7d :/ rough one there, v hard to put him on flush, he has to have the two in his hand...
but i was pleased with my performance...
roll on 2moro's PL event....
CISO, if u reading this i sent u a PM

out of pot limit hold em mtt. No real monsters, lost a race AKh vs TT, lost alot of them tonight. This is one of my stronger events too. Never mind, think my luck ran out since they suspended my account. Think Aelred was still in when i busted out, aint seen his table but he had not that many chips when I last checked.
Full tilt still not sent my money either which is beggining to piss me off.Not even a response. This Ftops coulda been so different.

yeah got my stack up to reasonable amount... then lost KJ to A10 for like 1k then lost this hand to more or less kill me :
http://www.pokerhand.org/?829698
im very tired of busting out in these scenarios, i lose all the f*cking time when i flop the nuts or have them crushed preflop.
been about a month of it now and i play at least 2/3 mtts every day.... Dont wanna sound like a whiney bitch, but its not possible for me to final if i keep putting my money in good and coming out last. I give it till the summer and if i dont have a big roll - $40k or more im gonna give up on this game. I feel my game has come on a whole lot more this last 2 months and if it is fruitless then im done with it.
Posted Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:44 pm GMT by crack
I am still in. Made a tough laydown after comitting 50% of me stack built it back up to 3800 but I am going to have to get incredibly lucky to still be in by the next break.
Posted Sat Feb 17, 2007 12:02 am GMT by kompis
keep it going mate, i usually get incredibly unlucky and am out by the next break. look back over my last few exits of mtts if f*cking sickening///
think this is the worst ive ever run for a length of time. If the cards were breaking even i would have made it deep in AT LEAST one of these events, but its just impossible when you lose every time your 4/1 or 5/1 fave. not to mention losing every single race etc.
Sigh i would say roll on next event but im not looking forward to spunking off another $800 on mtts that i will bust out from when i go allin with teh best hand.

Busto hand KJ forced to open raise on the button, forced to call against 88 flop a K and he turns an 8.

Out in around 1000th place mark.
Played pretty sound poker, was tough for me cos my table was full of overagressive fish who made it v expensive preflop every round. Busted out when i had about 7k with the blinds at 200 400 , about 18 BBS.
UTG raised to 1200, i pushed on the button with AhKh... he deliberated and called with K10.
He obviosly flopped the straight and that was that.
I have busted out of every ftops event in a situation where i was 3/1 fave or greater. lol pretty funny when u read it like that.
my impressive form continues.
Gl guys

out few hundred off the cash, played pretty sound , managed to see some more flops then the $300er but until my AA vs 66 all in didnt see much in the way of hands. $22,000 pot and with 4k left that pot pretty much would have ensured a 4th cash out of 7 events. This Ftops has been a bit frustrating for me- we're playing for alot of money and despite 3 deep finishes I havent made much money imo.
Things kinda went tits up after my account got suspended only played 2 events since then and nothing really to be too happy about . I think Ive cashed for around $7,900 and spent about $1700 in expenses. So $6,000 profit isnt much really when you've cashed several times.
Probably heading back to stars to play the odd donkament and $100 F/os for now.
Gl snoogins if you still in bud.

I busted out around the 1000th mark too. built me stack up to 22k and got it all in with KK against another big stack who had QQ. He flopped a Q and I am crippled.
I went out the mil after a few hours with AA all in versus 88 and 99 river 9.
The way my luck is running at the mo I ain't suprised. Kinda glad the FTOPS is over, it's been frustrating as f*ck.

ciso - i think the disappointing thing about these huge tournaments is that they payout 15 - 20% rather than the usual 10%, so the big money doesn't start to top 1%, which is good for the weaker players, bad for the stronger ones

I busted out around the 1800 mark. I was pissed off at my play - I wasn't really into it and made some dumb plays. The dumbest was when I had pocket jacks and rivered a straight with a pair on board and let the guy who flopped a boat suck me in for a big chunk of my stack (I had over 8000 chips at the time when the average was around 5800). That put me down to around 3200. I worked my way back up but then got it all in and was sucked out on the river for a big chunk that pretty much left me crippled.
If anything good came out of this tournament for me, it's that I realize that I play into hands too much. Semi-bluffing after a flop that looks like it shouldn't hit anybody and having someone call (or even reraise) should slow me down more than it does. I watched many hands (not just ones that I was in on) where a made hand would sit back and let others do the betting for him. Early on in tournaments why build pots for someone else.
The highlight of the tourney for me was watching Mike Matusow. I wasn't at his table but I watched him for awhile early on. One had in Level I was priceless. Matusow was in mid to late position in a pot against another guy who had position on him. The flop had two J's and a brick. The turn and river had something like Q K. In any case, the guy with position bet out on the flop and turn after Matusow had checked, and Matusow smooth called both bets. On the river Matusow checked again. Buddy bet out something like 313 chips (which was around a third of the pot by then). Matusow thought for a few seconds and then reraised to around 1513 chips. Buddy goes in the tank for a bit and an observer types in "Bluff". Buddy thinks a bit more, then folds. Matusow immediately turns over pocket J's and says "Bluff that!". I laughed my head off.

busted after less then 2 hours. Was really card dead all these 2 hours and was very frustrated. Few times I tried to make a move from position with JTs or the like. A SS in the blinds will call then push the flop.
Had J's once but no body called.
Busted with AJs in the SB. co raised, I reraised (for more then half my stack) he pushed and I felt I had no choice any more but to call. His AKs held.
The day before when I played the qualifier I easily laid down those hands. Its amazing how your game can change when you do not get cards.
This made me realize that my post flop game sucks in MTT's. Though it was real fun winning the entery fee to this.
