I had eight outs to his two in the end. I thought I had to go for it even though I figured he had bigger pair. Professional criticsm please. Not what an idiot retorts.

What exactly can you beat on the turn after he has fired two huge shots like that?
Very easy fold IMO. Fold preflop to the reraise, really.

As played, I push flop.

Yeah as played either checkraise big or fold on the flop, depending on your villain.
The re-raise call preflop is fine if you play your nines for set value only.

Hmmm... looks like by the flop you have $48 pot and 4 players...
I think I might push on the flop... kind of a big pot. If the guy is aware, he might put you on two pair already and drop. You don't have 8 outs... you have 10 outs... a 3.5:1 against with one card, and 1.6:1 against with two cards.
On the flop, you called $25 to win his $25+$48 ($73)... so you definitely have the odds. Turn is a $100 pot, and you call $55 to win $155 total... about a little less than 2.8 odds... I guess if you're precise... this doesn't render a call here.
A check raise on the flop might not be bad... but my guess is he might feel committed, as he'd put in $37 preflop ($12 preflop, $25 flop)... that's already almost half his stack!
Yeah, you might have to blast the pot with an all-in bet on the flop... it could look like you're protecting two pair, rather than drawing. He won't feel committed if he has to call $100 with only $12 invested. He may fold in this case.

Thanks guys. As I gave it more thought if I forced the all in after the flop he "might" have folded. He wasn't too proud even when he won the hand. The better part of this session had me not chasing gutshots only to see them hit after my fold. I thought I had a strong chance to hit the straight.
I feel you have to call a reasonable raise preflop if you have a pair. If the flop blows, fold.
