Finally decided to devote some time to playing those bigger S&G's and MTT's (not cash bigger, players bigger)
Played a $3 turbo last night. 217 started and I finished 24th. Am not crazy about this format. After the first break the blinds / stake rate is so low its push or fold game. luckily, most other players don't understand that, so you get to stay longer. But there is not that much poker involved.
Had about 6000 (average stack size) blinds where 200/400. sitting with A9 in the BB. SB mini raise. I push and his T's hold.
down to 4100. wait an orbit without a chance to push. (someone always raising before and never cards to stand to SD) find K9 in the BB. UTG (BS) raise folded to me. I decide to push. Sadly I only have one live card. He has KJo and I'm busted.
Next played a 90 players S&G deepstack. Now these are fun. Made it to 11th.
I sit with 12000 blinds are 600/1200 100 ante.
utg limps. folded to me in SB - A5. I min raise. He calls. flop 4A6 rainbow. He min bet - I decide to push and his kicker is better.
My biggest mistake is - a couple of hands before (different table) had AQs UTG with 13XBB. I bet 1.5XBB (just a little over min bet)
Blinds calls - and go allin on a K high flop.
After that, to release some steam, set in a 4 player HU S&G and took it down easily.
Damn, S&G and MTT's are so much fun.

I've always said I freakin hate turbos.
I much prefer deep stack tourneys, gives you a little time to actually play, other than pushing or folding PF.

I really don't mind the turbo MTT SNGs (45/90/180 person)
Yes, from 2/3rds of the tournament onward, almost every pot you play should be for your whole stack, but if you play good poker, especially at lower buyins, they are a great place to make money.
It is still possible to play optimally. Faster raising blinds mean that the less experienced players will make lots of big mistakes, calling check-raises with 2nd pair, getting pot comitted for their whole stack with A high, ect.
