Tricky one with large blinds and fast levels but calling all-in with 88 is uglier than raising all-in with it that is for sure. Maybe take a stab as it's a turbo, otherwise probably not.

Whats your read on villian? If he is a maniac then I might make a call here. If he is tight...then throw those 8s away. Your looking at a monster.
Your M is still high enough to survive a little longer. You have to ask yourself do you want to go out on the bubble in a coinflip situation or perhaps wait and go out in a better position. I could find reasons to and not to make the call. To me it would be very read dependant.

I'm calling with a lot less than eights in this situation.

I would apply my “push and go technique”, what I do is push it in and go for a walk, it works for me sometimes. I think that’s what he has done. Normally I like to be the one pushing.

Damn right.
This call is so easy it's unbelievable. You're desperate, and he probably is too. His range probably includes any pair, any Ace, and overcards, all of which you should be happy to face. If he has a bigger pair so be it. Your chance of winning this tournament isn't very good anyway, so you had better take some chances.

shorty vs shorty, M is 3.
Dream call with 8s in this position.

Thanks for the replies! It obviously sucks to lose on the bubble but I assumed that was a standard call if I wanted any hope of making it past 7th place.

Whenever I play in any tournament, my goal is to win, not to cash. Therefore in that situation, it'd be an easy call for me.

this is a good point here, if you just cash in most tournaments, your ROI may be "high" but your hourly rate sucks ... and thats what you really want to maximize in online poker

But by the same token, in some tournaments, cashing is MUCH better than not cashing, particularly when the minimum payout is relatively significant compared to your buy-in (this sometimes occurs when you are in a rebuy event or got in by satellite).
But the majority of the time, I agree with the "play to win by taking risks" theory, because almost all of the money is at the top of the tournament (especially the last 3 spots).
