Playing in my cash game last nite, blinds are $1/$2...I'm relatively new to the game. Played in this game maybe 7-8 times and have won 5 of my sessions.
Hand 1:
I'm against villian, very aggressive, loose player...plays lots of hands, raises/calls w/ almost anything and is one of the only players in our game that stradles
I'm dealt AA
I raise to $20...betting $8 or $10 does little in this game to weed anyone out
flop is J 5 8 rainbow
i bet out $60.....he calls...now I'm thinking maybe a pair of Jacks or a high pair
turn is 2.....I bet $30 he goes all in......I call....he had flopped a set of 5's.......did i do anything wrong?
Hand 2
Against another loose player..earlier in the nite I had seen him get beat by a pair of 7's, he had nothing and was betting $10-$15 a round. I had beaten him a few hands earlier w/ pocket K 8 and the board was J 9 8 2 3
he was betting $10 a round and I showed down with him and won w/ a pair of 8's
ok.....
I'm dealt K K
I bet out $20..now I dont always bet $20 w/ good hands, just went this particular way...vilian calls
flop is J 8 2 rainbow
i bet $20, he calls
turn is 5
i bet $20 he calls
river is Q
I bet $20....he goes all in...now i was putting him on a J but wasnt sure if it was AJ...JT...QJ...or what so I call, it was about $42 more....he had 2 pair...Js and Qs.......
Please let me know what you think....thanks!
Zig

playing over pair is always hard. Either you win a small pot or lose a big one.
Hand 1 is just a cooler. It very hard to put someone on a set. However, did villain behave like that before (call to river then push?) Its obvious he thinks his hand is goof here. If you had position, I might check behind on the river.
It also deepened on your table image. do they see you as tight or as LAG. If they see you as tight, and he still pushes after you are showing so much strength, it might be ok to fold A's. Though it is a hard fold in such a dry board..
Hand 2, villain chased and got one of his 5 outers. Probably just a cooler again.
I often go broke with over pairs. Especially in low limits. More often then not, they do push with crap that you have dominated. Occasionally they have a set or 2 pairs. I am not good enough to fold over pairs in most situation.
