Possibly the entire Tribeca network, I don't know for sure. When I logged on to Doyle's tonight I was told to go to a website with this message:
| Quote: | You are receiving this message because, based on your IP address, it appears highly probable that you are located in the United States.
On October 13, 2006, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act of 2006 was signed into law. Under the Act, much Internet gambling in the United States is now potentially illegal, depending on the laws of the state where the player is located. However, as a poker room serving various operators, we do not know the players, where they are located, or even if they are playing for money or just for fun. So, we have required poker sites using our room to reject money players from states where it is illegal.
Unfortunately, some sites have not been successful in their implementation of this requirement, and given the fact that we cannot differentiate legal from illegal play, we are left with no alternative but to block all players who appear to be located in the United States. We are putting all players on notice that access to real money tables and tournaments in the poker room from the United States will be blocked as soon as the blocking technology is tested and implemented; this is currently scheduled for February 28th at 23:59 GMT.
After February 28th, although you will not be permitted to play poker, you will still be able to access the cashier function of your poker operator through the cashier tab for a limited time. We suggest that you contact your poker site’s customer service with any questions you may have.
We apologize to players who are just playing for fun, to players located in states where Internet poker may be legal, and finally to players outside the United States whose Internet traffic is being routed so as to appear to be originating in the United States. |
UAU was right about how fishy DR has always been. I've made a killing on this site, while Stars has always seemed to have higher caliber players. And with Neteller gone, I have to pay a $10 fee for them to send me a check. I'm bummed.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

They're kicking you out, but you have to pay for them to cut you a cheque?
Kick a man when he's down eh?

SOB... ...what the hell is going on in the world? Can we US players not get a f'ing break? Must we be subjected to our own countries rash of stupidity forever?
Well if it is going to cost me $10 to get my $40 out of Doyles then I might as well just f%^&king lose it to some players on the site. This really freaking sucks.
The more I think about it the more I feel compelled to quote Sean...

so couldnt you use a proxy, or an IP masker to access this site?
i guess the only problem with that would be getting your money in the end.

Interesting offer from Doyle's Room: they've made a deal with Full Tilt so that all US players can transfer their funds into a FT account. Action Points transfer over into FT points as well (although not 1:1). If you don't have a FT account, your transfer counts as a first time deposit, and you get the 100% bonus. I initially didn't want to open a new account, but a 100% bonus is pretty tempting. How hard is the FT bonus to work off? And where would I sign up for rakeback first?

Very interesting deal.
Gun, i found the bonus pretty easy to clear. FT points accumulate pretty quickly and the bonus is released $5 at a time.

| Quote: | Full Tilt Poker is currently working with Doyle's Room on processing funds transfers. This process may take some time to complete as there are a few steps involved to ensure that your balance is properly carried over. These funds should be available in your Full Tilt Poker account shortly.
Within seven days of your transfer from Doyle's Room, your Action Points will be converted to Full Tilt Points and credited to your Full Tilt Poker player account.
Your Action Points will be converted to Full Tilt Points based on your Doyle's Room VIP level:
* If you are a Doyle's Club member, you will receive one (1) Full Tilt Point for every four (4) Action Points
* If you are a Doyle's Room VIP, you will receive one (1) Full Tilt Point for every six (6) Action Points
* If you are a Doyle's Room High Roller, you will receive one (1) Full Tilt Point for every twelve (12) Action Points |

Well, I opened a FT account, and after I told Doyle's to transfer the money, it was in my FT account in less than two hours and I was playing, so that was cool.

Actually, it's released in 10% increments, or $20, whichever is smaller, which for me is $20. And at the smaller stakes I play, it will take a LOT more hands than I normally play to clear the whole bonus in time. Oh well, I like playing when I'm clearing a bonus, so I'll do what I can, on to the grind...

Tribeca sold out to playtech in about november as playtech are "consolidating" their European poker position. As a result all Tribeca based network players will be "upgraded" to the "new" Playetch software.
Playtech have also "secured" a deal with Partygaming. (Do party currently use playtech software? i dunno)
I would surmise that the message you got from Doyles room is as a result of the imminent software upgrade + alignment with partygaming's policy towards US based players.
I am glad you found a solution.

A lot of them were willing too. The government dropped the ball on this one BIG TIME.
