what tricks or tips do you'se have for selecting a table?
do you'se actually sit there and watch a table for 30 min before sitting down on it?
do you look for the table with the biggest average pot at a given limit?
or maybe highest flop %?
I'm asking this cause I'm starting to realize this is a big hole in my game... I'm finding i'm more just jumping into the first avail table and going from there...
I want to fix this but don't know what to look for in a table...

I would imagine you want a tight table if you are loose (combined lower % to the flop and smaller pots) and a loose if you are tight. Higher % flops and bigger pots.
Having said that though, I don't know over how long those things measure that. I've seen some pretty big numbers for pot size only to sit down and find 4 or 5 rocks at a 6 handed table. Now maybe the guy just left, or maybe a few hands ran into each other I dunno.
I usually do the dumbest thing possible and look for biggest pots and then play way too loose cause I've been drinking. So don't do that.

I agree with Jauron. For the most part, prima facie, the best indicator for a "good" table is a high players/flop% and a large average pot size. I always look for tables with bigger pots, because usually that means that's where the action players are.
Also, if I know a live one or two at a table, I'm more liable to sit down. Barry Greenstein says a game is good if there are a few bad players, or just one really terrible player (especially if he has a big stack or is willing to reload a bunch). Who am I to diasgree with Barry?

I look for the people who are playing loose because they are drinking.

I look for tables in between. not tight but not too loose. on Full Tilt I look for tables with about 35% flops seen. I play TAG
