Somebody claimed to fold KK preflop against me at NL100 yesterday. Perhaps we're about to have a poker-nit renaissance, where we can sustain massive winrates simply by running the fark over everybody.

I doubt someone with 2X the buyin is that tight.
He simply thought you are making a normal (kind of weak) c-bet on a missed pot and tried to take it away from you. Once you fired back he pretended he actually had a hand. There is no way he connected with this flop and folded.
