wo really has a bankroll for live play?
i always used to play live with whatever cash i found in my wallet, otherwise i would just take some money out the ATM from my bank account.... but this way i never had an idea of how much i won/lost, and whenever something was won, the money went back into the wallet for spending.. so no real details on results. no real resuts actually for this reason
any one else had this?
because of this i started a bankroll today, took aside €100 and tagged it my live BR. went to the casino played some 2-4 FL and turned it into €230... pretty sweet after i was down over a €100 and reloaded with non BR money...

Nah I rarely play live, but I suppose if you are going to a lot it would be an idea to record your sessions just like you might online.

Bankroll is pretty key, you guys. Of course, you want to keep track of your wins/losses as meticulously as possible. This will tell you how good of a player you are.
Bankroll management is what you need to keep yourself in action on a daily basis. The only setback I've really found is that you begin to care about the money somewhat... and that's no good in poker.
I guess the trick after establishing a set bankroll is to not care about the money, but not play carelessly.

Yea live bah, keeping track of that is like keeping track of what my girlfriends favorite meal is. When im walking around with 8k up in my wallet I know I having a good weak and when I have 200 bucks thigns arent going my way In all serious it is probably wise to keep track of these things but my rent and bills seem to be paid every month and my crappy 15 hour a week job doesnt pay those so I guess im winning.

I agree with General Sal 100%. Just because you don't have a handy "account balance" tab doesn't mean you shouldn't keep very careful records of your BR for live play as well as online. I keep all my records on a spreadsheet and it helps me manage my money and see where I'm making the majority of my cash.
I think you need at least 200 BB's (preferably closer to 300) to play Limit games, and maybe 20+ the buy-in for No Limit (preferably more). As far as taking money to the casino, I like to allow for 2-3 buy-ins of No Limit, and maybe 40-50 BB's for Limit. If I lose more than that, chances are my focus will be shot and it's time to quit anyway.

I keep a bankroll. I always have. Records wise I've been slacking the last few weeks, but I remember my ups and downs, so I'll just add them to my ledger when I get home tonight. :D
I keep an excel spreadsheet that marks the day, the game, where it was, the stakes and how much I was up or down. I need to start tracking how long I played though.

I take better care of my live roll than my online one. Dedicated bank account, ATM card, etc. I keep a few hundred liquid so that I don't have to withdraw every time I play cards.
I usually pocket any winnings. Couldn't be bothered to "build my bankroll." I don't plan on playing any higher than I already do, so the extra padding is pointless.

I'm simililar, different savings account, small amount liquid. The difference is that I don't spend my bankroll on anything but poker. Right now I can afford to do that. In the past I've occassionally had to pull money out for emergencies. So unless it's an emergency I leave the money in and try to move up. I'd like to have enough in there to play 10/20 limit on a regular basis. Right now I have just enough to play 4/8.

Seperate bank account, and a daily excel sheet with my winnings, its the only way to go.
Now granted, my live bankroll right now is about a grand and I play 100NL so I am definatly not within the recomended range. They key is, this money is for poker, and I can afford losing it. Whether you have a bankroll set aside or not, that just has to be the fundamental though whenever you play any poker and expect to be succesful.

mine has never been more than a thousand, but yes, i have a roll that when i need a buy in i will go into this cash and use that rather than take out the money from my bank. i also try not to use for anything but poker. but once in a blue moon i will.

No I don't have a live bankroll, but I grew up 'poor' so I have a natural instinct for always knowing exactly how much money I have, and I'd never play in a game over my head. Spending money is fun but I always have this silly voice in the back of my skull that blocks me from being stupid with money, so I just play in games I know I can afford.
