making money of S&G

Posted Mon Feb 26, 2007 6:37 pm GMT by MrDarling
just had a look at FullTilt leader board low levels S&G

The leader had the amazing ROI of.... %6 and average profit of a $1.
However, since he played almost 5700 games this month he is sitting with a little over $5700 profit.
how do you play 5700 games a month? thats over 200 games a day..

2nd played 2750, has a 4% ROI and made only $1500 profit
wile the 3rd played 3700 has a 3% and made less then $500
Guess you can make money out of S&G but you need to multi table 10 at a time for 10 hours a day..

Maybe I should give it a go, been running goof lately Smile

Those crazy leaderboard people multi-table like you wouldn't believe - maybe 20 SNGs going at a time, repeat x 10, you lose half of the hours in your day, eliminate variance, make 4% ROI and make 5K+ a month in rakeback =/

The 3rd place d00d on this list, it doesn't seem like <$500 is even close to being worth it, lets assume he plays 50+5 SNGs or higher, 3700 tournaments x $5 rake = 18,500 x .27% rakeback = $4997 - not too shabby. Even if he's only playing 20+2 SNGs that number is still going to be at least 2K in rakeback.

I played only 150 games last 2 month. My average ROI is up to %15 and I made $100 profit...
And thats climbing from $-30 the beginning of this month.

Maybe I'll attempt 5-10 S&G a day for a month, see how that go.

Wow, with a 1k roll in full tilt it might even be worth my while to sign up for rakeback. Do you think they will notice if i xfer my $ into another account that had just signed up for rakeback??

Wow normally I didn't play 1 table SNGs but this thread inspired me to start playing the 6+.50 turbos on Pokerstars. In the past 2 days I have played 17 of them and I'm having an absolutely sick run.

90.6% ROI
58.8% ITM
5 Wins, 4 seconds, 1 3rd
+$100.10

Very Happy

I would say that is quite a sick run, especially with playing the turbos because it can become all about luck as the blinds are getting outta control.

Im not saying u got lucky, because there is skill involved, but its def. difficult to cash that much.

The key there is turning those ITM spots into 1sts and 2nds and minimizing the 3rds, which looks like you have done quite well.

Yeah I definitely got lucky, I'll admit that, I don't remember a time when so many of my 60/40s and 70/30s actually held up, I've been having a shit month but these turbos have brought me +even, which is a nice feeling. Obviously a 90% ROI is not sustainable.

I actually prefer the turbos to the slower blind structure, especially at the $6 level because the opponents are absolutely horrible and making the binds go up a little quicker means that 70% of the people are going to make horrible mistakes faster and more often.

It's a little harder to multi-table SNGs because once it gets to 4 handed the games require more focus. I have been doing sets of 5 tournements at a time, as I gain experience I"ll probably add a 6th table, but even for the people who don't like to multi-table, you should be able to play 4 at a time, just tile the screens and play good tight positional poker. Actually, my last set of 5 was soooo sick, 3 wins 1 second and just 1 4th place bubble and I only busted 4th because on a 3-8-9 board I min bet with QQ and JQ pushed over top and rivered a 10.

Doh , I just realized SharkScope stats are not for the month but for the poker career. So this kids didn't play 5000 game a month.

I really had problems wrapping my head around how you can play 5000 games a month.
