Confusion about how to play the pot odds |

Suppose you have two suited cards say A9 , and the flop comes up 5 10 K , so you have around 36% chance of hitting the flush over the next two cards, that i'm cool with.
If the pot was already 1000 and there are two aggressive players in the hand to act before you. On the flop the first bets 500 2nd calls, then you should call because the pot is now 2000, you would call 500 with chance to win a 2000 pot correct so 1:4? But what if you don't hit your flush on the turn card then you shouldnt call a futher bet on the next round of betting because the pot odds would be against you as youd only have around 17 or 18% chance of making your flush unless the bet was small enough which isn't all that likely with aggressive players.
The bit im kinda confused about is, if you don't hit your flush on the turn then you know you probally arent going to see the river card without calling another perhaps larger bet and so the pot odds would say you should fold and you'd have wasted your 500 call. So should you not have folded to the bet on the flop in the first place since you knew you only actually had an 18% chance of hitting the flush on the turn? Although u had a 36% in total of hitting the flush over the you only had 18% chance of hitting it when it counted on the turn so should you not only be calling bets which are less than 18% of the pot before the turn instead of 36%?
What would be the best way to play this sort of hand?

Just remember, 36% is for both cards, as you know. Its only useful if you know you are going to see both cards, like when you and your opponent are all-in. If you can only see one card with your bet, then yes, its 18% to hit the flush with one card, and you should play accordingly.

so my first try to explain it so , dont give to much weight to my answer
Id say the call is correct , not because of the pot odds, but because of the -implied odds-. Means if you know your opponents are going to bet on the turn no matter what card comes, lets say half the Pot you can add that extra amount to the equation meaning first youve got to pay 500 to win a 2000 pot , but because of the implied odds you pay 500 to win a 2000 + -implied Odds- 1250 , giving you odds of 1 : 6 which justify the call
So Id personally say, flush draw lives from its implied odds , than from its pot odds ....

implied odds are too fuzzy.
either way, the op is clearly thinking correctly.
