Poker players are BAD PEOPLE (Charity + High Stakes Poker) |

Hiya. Anyone that has seen high stakes poker episode 7 of season 3 probably noticed Barry Greenstein's reference to $10,000 being given to him to say "lol donkaments" on the air.
This all comes from 2+2 where that phrase has sort of gone from catchy, to epic, to boring, to classic all in one throw. Either way..
It appears that nobody ACTUALLY gave him 10k to say it, they were just joking about it (the guy who made the offer is often on 2+2) but naturally all of the 2+2 bunch (DEGENERATE POKER PLAYERS ILLEGALLY BREAKING THE LAW WITH THEIR DEGENERATE HABITS) decided to come to the rescue. On one of the more ridiculous forums over there someone suggested donating $10000 to Barry's charity of choice to sort of ease over the deal, and as a thank you for making them psueodo-internet famous over this whole deal.
Either way, they're well over $20,000 by latest counts, and that's in about a day and a half of collecting. So if you want to help out, I'm gonna link it here. If the MODS here don't like it, they probably don't like children. That's all I'm saying.

Give what you can, if you can, and maybe poker players wouldn't seem like such bad guys to everyone.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

Dunno if a mod doesn't like it, but this admin sure doesn't.
No soliciting. Duh.
Strike two.

not allowed to solicit a children's charity donation that is attempting to change the way poker players are regarded by the media + politicians? Completely with national tv exposure + press coverage? okeeeeee..
take that, children.

That's right, you're not.
Would you like me to explain why again?

because you don't like children
don't you think it's perhaps a bit shortsighted from a business standpoint? If this donation reaches 100k+ i think it would be pretty good for poker in general.

Yes, exactly, it's because I don't like children, my straw friend.
Sigh. It's because if we solicitations through, then some other idiot will come in and do the same thing, except for some other cause. Maybe he'll not word it as carefully and it is just a blatant solicitation. Then when we edit his solicitation and possibly ban him, his retort is that we allowed children's charities but not his. Suddenly, I've taken some sort of political stance. I don't necessarily want to do that.
Unfortunately I understand the merit of an argument like "you allowed someone to ask for donations for a kid's charity, so why can't NAMBLA ask for donations?" I'm not making a list of acceptable charities, either. Not what I had in mind when I made an internet poker site.
Also, it makes people think that we allow solicitations which just isn't the case. So idiot number two comes in and sees the solicitation and goes ahead and links to whatever. Then not only is he personally offended when we edit/ban him, but it gives the mods/admins a little extra dog poo to clean up.
Furthermore, groton, get Firefox 2 for god's sake. And you never saw Princess Mononoke? It's a kodama, of course.

I went to school with a girl whose nickname was Princess Mononucleosis. But she looked a lot better than that.
