Routes to the WSOP

Last night I played in a $16 double shootout on stars. I like these tourneys, I think they are very +EV if you have half an idea how to win a sit n go. After winning the first table i got onto the final table where 9th of the 10 at the table, got $61 and 2nd - 8th got $72 with the winner getting a $650 seat in the sunday wsop qualifier.

So basically, you win your first table and outlast 1 player on ft you get ~4x your buy in back, or a $650 seat. thats pretty +EV to me.

So anyways, I won the ft and have my seat in the $650 which starts at 11pm on a sunday night my time and pays out something like, 1 seat at wsop for every 18 players. Probably will end up with about 40 seats for 800 players.

Now I'm not planning on playing this, I feel that having 1 chance for $650 could lead to problems, 1 bad beat, being card dead etc. a lot could happen.

So I plan to withdraw and take the $650 W$ and buy into 3 $160 double shootouts. and depending how i get on, use the remaining $170 W$ for some more $16 double shootouts.

For me, spreading the W$ around like this gives me more options, more play and a better chance.

The $160 DS gives $12000 package and spreads the rest back in $160 payouts, usually down to 9th again.

Not as good as the $16's cos you're only really getting your money back for making the ft, but still not too shabby.

The only problem is... I checked out one of these earlier and saw names like Bax, Elky, sheets and some other very recognisable names lol.

Ach well, It will be fun taking them out on my way to wsop 2007 Wink

Last year I played a few of those double shootouts to get into the weekly $650 WSOP satellites.
The ones early AM are great because you they often will only have 4-6 people on the first table because they aren't full by start time, (early morning). Then of course you have to win the second table to get the satellite entry but I managed to win it 2 out of 4 times. Sadly, I missed the first satellite confusing EST with PST start time and the second satellite I played my set got runner/runner flushed.

I didn't consider for one second not playing the satellite but instead spreading the W$ out like you say sounds like the way to go.

I might take a run in the same way Webster as I also like the DS games and for $16 a throw, you can happily plough through a lot without it hurting. It's definitely a sound plan to use the W$ more wisely than directly entering the super-sat.

Here's hoping you make it dude Smile

Oh yeah, the other thing about these $160's, the only sats to them are $5 turbo rebuys so 1/4 of the field is turbo donks Razz With blinds at 15 mins these are a lot slower than regular sit n go's never mind turbos!

Hehe efram, i seem to recall you mentioning missing that trny. The runner runner thing is exactly what i'm talking about, this way spreads the variance. Not to mention I could win multiple seats Wink

And ty Geno, I hope I can too! I must be due!

Good luck, webby!

And if you do make it to vegas, look me up while you're out here.
And if you happen to win the WSOP, make sure to share to wealth (but to me and me only, of course Smile )

that's not a bad idea...

pretty generous of me... now I just sit back and wait for karma to start giving me good cards...

Yeah, I didn't think it was funny at the time. Man, I was literally CRUSHED!!
I had WSOP fantasies in my head all week prior to that tourney and when I realized the day of, that it might be EST start time, I was freaking, cuz I was well past the start time by the time it even occurred to me it might be EST.

Funny thing is I played a $16 double shootout that very night I blew the start time on the tourney and won it. So I ultimately had a chance anyway.

I probably won't spend a huge amount of effort trying to qualify this year (since I have to concentrate on making money rather than spending it), but if I have the chance, I may play some of the $33 rebuy events, or the $160 DS's. In any case, I'll only buy into these events with T$ I've won through some other satellite, because I just can't throw away that kind of scratch willy-nilly ATM. After I win another MTT, then we'll talk.
