Question: How many, or what percentage of people actually pay the 10k anymore?

Out of pocket? I bet it's extremely small. A lot of the pros even get in through satellites or sponsors.

guys who play the high stakes poker, probably, just pay to get into them...
guys like Sammy Faruh?, who cold call with K high 20k
can afford it...
i don't think they will waste so much time playing satellites
and i believe other pro's get sponsored into them
i'm not really sure.

Very Nice and good luck.
At the room i play there are 8 tournements with big money for the top players and also 1st place wins a seat in a 10.seated SnG with the winner winning a wsop package and a gold bracelet (maybe joke or for fun)
If anyone is enterested in playing Those tourneys as a way to reach wsop.. if you win in any of those 8 tournements you get to play in the SnG.
The tournements are all 700 runners with the biggest 25k prize pool.
Nl are with 3k starting chips 10seated.
Deep stack 5k chips or 6-seated nl 3k chips
respectively 100, 30, 20 buy-in.
The other 2 best at the score board get to play in the SnG also.
I Dont think many people play at this room, so just letting you know to those who try to win a wsop ticket.
good luck.
