Call or fold?

Posted Fri Mar 23, 2007 2:47 am GMT by Eusebio
Hi!

Would like to have some opinions...

500 Player MTT, because it is a freeroll 5k guaranteed only the first 15 places pay 15th-5th is a 125$, first place 1250$

We are down to 26 players. Average chipstack is about 28500.

I am sitting with 27.000 in MP and look down on ATs
Blinds are 2000/4000
I raise it up to 10.000 and the cutoff pushes All-In with 30.000. Thats the 3rd consecutive All-In, one time he called with K3os, the second one did not get any callers...

Would you call or fold?

You absolutely cannot even entertain the thought of considering to maybe think about folding this hand.

This is an absolute, unequivocal, absolutelynodoubtabout it: call. Instantly.

Did I mention this has to be a call?

Don't worry about opinions, 99.9% of people will say call, and the other guy will be wrong.

You can't make a normal raise when your M is so small (M= Stack relative to Blinds + Ante)
I push this every time PR. If he have a better A power to him. If he has a small pp I'll gladly race.

And yeah, you got a call that. Even if he was a rock, that didn't play a hand for 3 hours. What are you going to do with 4XBB. Even if you get A's you give everybody odds to chase you down.

I was prepared to go all the way with the hand... and I would have pushed all in on the flop no matter what...

I called the the All-In and he turned over QQ, I flopped trip-aces but was beat by his boat...

Just wanted to make sure that i played it correctly...

I agree. This is an open push for you with an M just over 4.

My idea of raising just 10.000 to scare them a bit, since they should know that there is only the all-in-move...

By raising just 10.000 i wanted them to think, that i want to get called, what should represent a pretty strong hand and make some of the pairs fold. I raised earlier all-in, so that hould make them think too... basically i wanted to get them suspicious and probably fold a callinghand.

As i said before... i would go all the way, pushing or calling all in on the flop...

Everytime i bust out i ask myself if I made the correct play and if you start as an underdog oder dominated before the flop then the chance that you did something wrong is pretty high... but in fact (at least what everybody says here) i did play it right (apart from my idea preflop) and that heals the wound of going busto a bit Wink

First, its a freeroll, people don't think that deep.

Second, you are giving decent stacks good odds to try bust you. They only need to call 2.5XBB raise. If they miss, they can easily fold. If they hit, they know you are going broke. You are actually forcing them to make the right play.

So late in MTT no one is going to fold a small pocket pair. if you show me A's and raise 2.5XBB I'll call with odds to hit my set.

CO play is the right one, when your M is so small you have to open push almost any face card (especially in position) It is 10 times better to push then to call a push. I might fold K9 if someone raised or even limp before, but if it is folded to me I'll probably push with it. (stack, table, blinds protectors etc taken into account)

Bah he's right. I forgot to take psychic powers and pattern-mapping software into account. If you got AA comin, you gotta wait it out.

raise to 10k
why just push all in with it and not face the decision and make ur opinions face it

by pushing all in, since u only have 27K anyways is a good move because it gives u the chance to get some much needed chips
and note its a FREEROLL
so maybe the players aren't as good...

but to answer ur question, CALL!!!
u cannot afford to fold to even if ur 3-1 underdog.
