when he raised on the turn my logic was that he had the trip 4's and i could break him now. He had a tendency to call most of my value bets and i was playing mostly small pots with my weaker hands.
ill post the results later.
thanks

You have the 2nd nuts. You need to do what ever you think it takes to put all the money in the middle.
I see 2 things that might have happened :
1. You reraised the turn - he fold. So what, the pot was big enough and he had nothing.
2. You reraised he pushed you called - he had quads or a higher pocket pair and caught his 2 outer on the river. Well, thats poker. Not putting all the money in would be the mistake.

A BIG mistake. If you don't go broke here (assuming you lost the hand), you played it wrong.

I was never worried about him having 44. I knew my hand was best and wanted to get all the money in the pot since i was OOP and if he had the nut flush draw i might have been able to bust him now. If the spade didnt fall i might not win anymore money. I was really hoping he had A4 since he would be drawing nearly dead.

I might have made a smaller bet, but other than that you played it fine. If you thought he was going to call based on your read of his play then it was 100% correct.

without a read I think I would've slowed down... maybe even c/r the river...

Awful. I doubt you'll get the chance.

Why tell him you have trip 4's or better? You are only getting paid off if he has a hand. A check, raise then reraise is indicating you have the goods and my hand isn't too good.
Why not just call the turn and bet out the river when he reraises? It may just confuse him enough to get him to call with a J or medium pocket pair and if he does have a 4 he might even reraise you.
