Just came back from my second live MTT.
A freeroll (though we decided to all add €10 to the prize pot). Almost 80 players and I finished a cool 10th. Just before FT (Only 5 got paid)
Played extremely tight.
Dbl'd up twice pretty early to around 12K when the blinds where around 75-150 .
Once with K's . I raised, get one caller.
Flop come all under with 2 diamonds. I bet he call. turn is another diamond.
There are around 2K in the pot and I have 1.5K. So not even enough for a blocking bet.
I show a lot of weakness by asking how much he has (he covers) and then I check. He push, and I call. I wasn't acting. I really hated this turn but felt I have to call. He had A9 for TPTK and he didn't improve.
A couple of hands later a new player join - a maniac. Goes AI with over 5K when the blinds are only 150 and shows a bluff etc.. He almost raised every pot that came limed to him.
I see A's from UTG and decide to limp. 1-2 more limpers, he makes it 500, BB call I raise 2K and only he call.
Scary flop : 89T 2 diamond. I made a weak ass bet 1K into over 4k pot. He reraise and I push. his AKo never improves.
So I have over 12k blinds are low and I just sit tight. Fold big hands to raises (AJs when UTG raise 8XBB, 5's when 2 players are AI etc..) but I also fold marginal hands OOP (QTo, K9o etc)
I make 1 move with QJo, blinds where 250-500. I raise to 2k shortie push 3.9K and for some odd reason I feel I have odds to call. Sure he only had 9's but I don't improve. (I think this was a mistake)
Then I slowly blind away until I sit with a couple of 1000's and the blinds are a 500-1000.
I still the blinds twice with AI (K2o on BTN and 2's UTG) fold A4o to AI then I see A7s - tight guy before me raise to 5K and I decide to call my last 3K. His T's improve to a set and I'm out 1 away from the FT.
I think I played waaay to tight in the middle section. Didn't attempt to steal the blinds once. Didn't limp with marginal hands and seen far too little flops.
Sunday I have a qualifier to the Flemish Championship. So I hope I'll do a little better. (first 8 get a ticket)
Though it was real fun.
