Final table - Against a maniac |
|

I played this 90 Player Ministake sng.
Villain pushed 8 of the last 10 hands, raising reraising all-in, he used to play solid, but turned into a maniac, after losing a big hand...
Then there comes this hand:
Full Tilt Poker Game #2151179344: $1 + $0.25 Sit & Go (16163194), Table 1 - 1200/2400 Ante 300 - No Limit Hold'em - 16:15:07 ET - 2007/04/06
Seat 1: Spawn_of_Poker (57,580)
Seat 5: Eusebio1210 (167,605)
Seat 6: zedoo12 (44,815)
Spawn_of_Poker antes 300
Eusebio1210 antes 300
zedoo12 antes 300
Eusebio1210 posts the small blind of 1,200
zedoo12 posts the big blind of 2,400
The button is in seat #1
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Eusebio1210
Spawn_of_Poker raises to 4,800
Again he raises, so i decided to make a stand
Eusebio1210 raises to 16,000
zedoo12 folds
Spawn_of_Poker calls 11,200
*** FLOP ***
Eusebio1210 ?
Is this a hand good enough to bring it to war?
I was pretty sure he did not have an ace, because he never minraised with a big hand. Probably he had one highcard, a small PP or connectors...

Pot is 34,400 chips and he only has 41,580 chips behind him so you may as well try and check for a free card but call if he moves all-in since you will only be calling slightly against the odds for the straight at 1.83:1 and of course if your Q and/or J are good then you are making a good call anyway as you have 6 more outs.
Since you have a good chip lead, I think this is the right play. If you get a free turn card and you hit the straight you can bet 1/2 his stack or go for the check-raise. If the turn is a blank and he moves all-in, it is an easy fold.

well if u gonna play i think u have to get all the chips in on flop
in which case i'd go for check raise all in.
i doubt he'd just call your raise with no hand despite being a maniac
since as u said he was reraising and raising all in,
a call from a player like that is akward.

first, I hate to take a stab OOP unless I know how he plays post flop.
Now, if we are going to call his push, why not put him AI. Then we have some fold equity and we are not allowing his 45o to spike a pair.

@geno
if i would have checked, he would have pushed for sure. Bet or fold... so I had to decide in that Moment if I wanted to play the hand or not..
@jernej
after reading the HH again it seemed pretty strange to me too...
@MR Darling
Fold equity was the thing that came to my mind as well...
So I bet out
Eusebio1210 bets 43,000
Spawn_of_Poker calls 41,280, and is all in
Eusebio1210 shows
Spawn_of_Poker shows
Uncalled bet of 1,720 returned to Eusebio1210
*** TURN ***
*** RIVER ***

Spawn_of_Poker shows two pair, Tens and Nines
Spawn_of_Poker wins the pot (117,860) with two pair, Tens and Nines
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 117,860
then the follwing hand came, where i probably made a big mistake

That was the first time he made such a strange move
After that he took me for another 27k Pot... and then comes this hand:

Folding the 5s is fine, you're probably flipping coins there, against this guy you're likely to run into a situation that's more +EV

Another question... (dont want to open anotherone)
I managed it to make the final table again (380 Players), for many of you guys this surely isnt much, but i am pretty glad to see some results...
So, was this very stupid?
Full Tilt Poker Game #2166621683: $2 + $0.25 Tournament (16227781), Table 27 - 2000/4000 Ante 500 - No Limit Hold'em - 17:54:08 ET - 2007/04/08
Seat 1: rbozz (76,766)

Eusebio1210 posts the big blind of 4,000
The button is in seat #2
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Eusebio1210
chekrayza folds
VANDULA folds
NutyDuck folds
rbozz raises to 8,000
dasha calls 8,000
I put them on either a couple of overcards or a small pair
Nakk3L1 folds
Eusebio1210 calls 4,000
I am getting more than 6:1 so this call seems obvious to me, but tell me if you think different...
*** FLOP ***
I think this is probably a good flop for me, no highcards. Just a set would be killing me here. The problem is, that the only way I can win this pot is by betting and now my stack was still big enough to hurt these guys.
Eusebio1210 bets 29,014, and is all in
rbozz folds
dasha calls 29,014
Eusebio1210 shows
dasha shows
I could not believe what i saw...
*** TURN ***
*** RIVER ***
Eusebio1210 shows King Jack high
dasha shows a pair of Kings
dasha wins the pot (87,528) with a pair of Kings
Eusebio1210 stands up
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 87,528 | Rake 0
I felt like i made the right move, but somehow this guy made an amazing call here...
How do you guys see the hand?
Posted Sun Apr 08, 2007 6:58 pm GMT by MrDarling
I dont like it.
Not the PF call and really not the push.
what hands are you representing?
This is such a dry board that if you did hit it, you wont be pushing your stack into it, you'd try to get value out of it.
sure calling with K high is sick and stupid but your move didn't show strength, it showed weakness
