early tourney strategy -> cash games |

For a long time I've used a "lottery ticket" style strategy in the early stages of tournaments.
Basicallly, I limp/call in every unraised or minraised pot with nearly any two cards in the last 4-5 positions and the blinds. The idea being that most inexperienced players will be willing to push all of their money with TP or an OP. I make lots of small bets in pots that people have little interest in - regardless of my hand (which helps me stay about even) AND when I get a stronger hand than a big pair - two pair, a set, a straight, flush, etc. I try to play huge pots - which is very, very easy against the majority of these lower level players.
If I miss the flop, and someone bets - I never try to raise them off their hand or bluff them in any way. The basic concept is viewing each hand as a huge implied odd lottery ticket. You get that Q 2 2 flop with 2 5 and double through the smart guy who limped in with AQ UTG.
---
What I was wondering is if any one has considered a similar strategy for micro limit cash games. I've noticed that many players have a similar tendancy to play big pots with relatively weak hands. I've wondered if it would be profitable to attempt a very similar lottery style strategy in these games - expecting to double through enough to pay for the much higher amount of hands played.
Any thoughts?

I limp and call small raises a lot with suited connector 56s 67s 78s etc, sometimes I limp with suited single splits 46s 57s 68s etc, from a late position I may even limp or call a small raise with off suited connectors or double split suited connectors. It hasn’t been that rewarding. I do it because I play small pairs from any position in a similar fashion and big pairs from an early position the same way, it helps disguise those hands, that where my reward is.

Its a fine strategy. Just be aware that other ppl are trying that exact same thing.
As for playing certain cards to disguise your hand, that I don't much agree with, at least at lower limits online where theres a high amount of turnover. Basically you're playing with too many ppl at too low a lvl for the significant majority to realize what you're doing. Most ppl are much more focused on what they're doing, rather than what you are, especially in cases where you're just limping. Im guilty of it to. Whenever I play low lvl stakes (which I am no do to no BR.) Basically I only look for two types of players. Those you splash around ALOT and those who fold everything but the nuts. Everyone else I pretty much just ignore, cause its not worth trying to figure them out.

What a silly strategy.

Works great in tournaments. I don't think its well suited for cash most of the time.

Even we had to have similar thoughts on something sometime.

Only one person "thought" of that and it wasn't you. Try to come up with your own content next time.
