i will re-raise the turn here. he has check-called, then check-raised. it definitely looks like he wants to go with his hand... so i crnk it up some more. and pray he doesnt have pocket AA

Why not push the river? I thought thats why you only called the turn. Set over set sucks but seriously put more money into the pot.

+1

Either reraise the turn or raise the river. You are supposed to go broke set over set. Otherwise you're missing a ton of value vs. two pair or a botched bluff, because there are literally only 5 hands that beat you with that board, and I'm all but willing to rule out 43, 55, and 88, so really the only hands that are going to kill you are AA and TT, in which case you got coolered, tough break. But to not get all your money in with a set on that board... I don't like it. I think he has AK or AT, but I know nothing about his play up to now.

Here is my thoughts as it happened :

cool flopped a set lets hope he has AK or something.
Damn , he checks. Is he really afraid of the A or is he slow playing it.

Notice my very small flop bet $0.95 into $1.90 . I want to induce a bluff from K's-J's or I want AT to reraise.
Just call - probably a big hand. A's? Really?
Turn is a brick (Am really not worried about 34 at this time)
Now I'm betting small because I'm confused. I actually just want a cheap SD now. It really really feels like A's
Damn, min reraise. Wish I was allowed to fold a set

Call me a nit. I know often enough I miss a value bet on the river, and often fold the best hand. But for once I decided to go with my guts.

Am actually a little upset that I bet the turn. Really wanted to check it. Let a weaker hand bluff me on the river or get out of this cheaply.

Of course, I was wrong. You can't pin point a guy hand to one specific hand. He didn't have A's. He had T's

It's a fairly easy hand to play. Re-raise the turn and push the flop. I don't think there's a better way to play it. I think the hand was played way to passively.

his check/call with an Ace on board raises my suspicions. Who raises preflop then checks when an Ace falls? Then the Check/Raise turn.

I don't mind calling the turn and river on this hand. If you win you still get more than enough to justify the odds, and if you lose at least you weren't stacked.

Looked like tens.

I think your guts are working properly. You cannot simply check-down a set, but I think slowing down a bit once you felt you might be beat was a great read.

I often get the feeling that I'm beat from an opponent's actions, and I find that whenever I go against those feelings, I lose a big pot...

Just get it in. Don't be results oriented by villain's hand, this is 25NL 6-max and I have played a ton of it myself. Villain could have two pair or TPGK+ here more than often enough to make getting all the money in the most profitable option even if he has you coolered some of the time.
