100XBB coin flip

Posted Thu Apr 26, 2007 7:56 am GMT by MrDarling
Hi all ,

Today had a good session where I folded AKo twice PF.

I want your thoughts.

Hand 1 : ($25NL)
villain 1 UTG: big stack 600XBB
villain 2 BTN: shortie 50XBB
Hero SB: 120XBB

Villain 1 raised a lot from UTG (though usually min raise) and always fold to a reraise. In fact I did it to him 3 times in a row (I did happen to have AQ all those times)
villain 1 : raise 3.5XBB
villain 2 : raise to 10XBB

Hero?
If it wasn't for villain 1 I push here everyday against a short stack. However, do I really want to get into a fight with BS?

Hand 2 - different table no real reads.
both villain had full stacks, hero 2Xbuyin.
MP make standard raise. Hero reraise to 10XBB SB reraise to 40XBB.
I figure we have the same hand at best, small chance we are racing (J's-Q's) big chance he have me crushed (K's - A's)
Hero?

then last hand:
Full Tilt Poker Game #2292216340: Table Armor (6 max) - $0.10/$0.25 - No Limit Hold'em - 8:35:41 ET - 2007/04/26
Seat 1: hero ($31.65)
Seat 3: Jackfrost77 ($139.25)
Seat 4: bebbot ($30.35)
Seat 5: Robbo03 ($25.15)
Seat 6: lepiiiii ($22.35)
bebbot posts the small blind of $0.10

Robbo03 posts the big blind of $0.25
The button is in seat #3
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to hero Ten of HeartsQueen of Hearts
lepiiiii folds
hero raises to $1
Jackfrost77 calls $1
carlos1979 sits down
bebbot folds
Robbo03 calls $0.75
carlos1979 adds $10
*** FLOP *** Nine of DiamondsQueen of DiamondsTen of Spades
Robbo03 checks
hero bets $2.20
Jackfrost77 raises to $9.70
Robbo03 folds
Jackfrost77: we get allin if we go
hero: lets do it
hero has 15 seconds left to act
Jackfrost77: right here
hero raises to $30.65, and is all in
Jackfrost77 calls $20.95

The one hand I'm worried about is of course made str. Am hoping he has a flush draw.

Thoughts?

i dont like last play
u are ahead if he has a flush draw only, and 3-1 underdog if he has a set or a straight

What's wrong with raising to 25BB in the first hand? I don't think I have the power to just fold AK to a raise and a re-raise

I like the last hand, but not "because you are hoping he has a flush draw", he could have T9, JT, J9, QJ, or even 89 there too.

i guess gumbie is right,
i gave it some more thought and seems like he might indeed have way too many hands that we beat

Fold is good. AK is not a multiway pf action hand.

Um, man, this doesn't quite come up too often. For such small stakes, I guess you could push here. I'd be more inclined to be worried about villain # 2's reraise though. YOu said villain # 1 fold to reraises pretty often. Sounds like he makes a lot of loose raises, then folds to a reraise, like you said.

There's a reason villain # 2 reraised. He doesn't want you in there! I think he's trying to push out a weak ace... must be a big pocket pair.

In this case, though, you are in the small blind... no position after the flop... Is this a full 10 handed table btw? That kind of changes things I think. If Villian # 2 is a rock, then yeah, I'd be inclined to fold. He sees an ace on the flop, then he'd probably go ahead and fold after you bet.

Problem # 2.

I don't know what kind of hand you have in that one... I think that small blind reraises usually indicate a monster pair in the hand. I might hold onto queens in this spot as well.

Problem # 3

I wouldn't make it a habit to let go of top two pair man. An instacall like that in that spot means a made hand or monster straight & straight flush draw. Of course, if he's an idiot, he might have pocket aces as well, and call in this spot.

Hey, he could have pocket jacks too! A nice ten outer there...

Being OOP in hand 1 with AK, you could argue for a push, but at lower stakes preflop re-raises tend to be from strength. Calling here sucks, thats for sure.

Hand 1 I would actually fold pretty frequently, just because it's so hard to know where you're at against a raiser and reraiser. You basically have zero invested in the hand, and this isn't the spot I like to throw in a whole mess of chips with AK. As was said earlier, AK isn't that good multi-way.

Can't call here, really, and risk the sandwich.
Re-raising is massively risky.
Folding has zero risk, aside from maybe losing some EV against a modest hand range. However, in low stakes games, reraises still tend to be fairly strong, and this one would be strong enough to isolate and get me out of the hand. AK has good spots and bad spots. IMO, this is a bad spot, and there is no shame in mucking in. Maybe that's not the correct "math land" play, but without a pretty good estimated range, it's certainly the sane play.
