25NL homegame or so, 5 handed.

BB is an ok lag who likes action and funky hands. We tangle some of the time. Abbout 80BBs behind and I cover.

I get King of SpadesNine of Spades in the SB.

Folds, I raise 4x, BB calls.

Flop: Two of DiamondsEight of SpadesNine of Diamonds

I pot, BB shoves, I instacall.

Thoughts?

Its probably close to a coinflip when he pushes like that. I probably fold, my guess with his hand is a flush draw with the 8 Diamond

I'm not really confident in TPGK, but I don't know your friend. Online, I'd fold this most of the time. There's just too many hands that can beat you.

I hate being OOP on SB raises Sad Gimme 23o so I can fold.

SB BB play between ppl that know each other is a bit hard to comment on.

You instacalled so u must think he pushes with all kinds of things here.

My guess is he showed 82 or 92.

I like to be little more cautious in these situations, he has called your pre-flop raise, no big deal, except why, does he have a hand or is he confident with position he can out play you on a later street, you pot bet the flop and he comes over the top, if he was looking to out play you and didn’t have a hand, I can’t see him committing all his chips this early on a bluff after your raise. I’m thinking over pair or trips on the flop. If you checked or made a smaller raise on the flop and he come over the top I would not have been as concerned.

There is obviously history going on between the two of you that we can't comment on.
My guess is he thought your bluffing and you thought he's bluffing and turned out you were right and cracked his A high..

This is an excellent point. I never play my homegames the same way I play elswhere. My mates know me too well.

Is this the case here tame???

Very much agreed on this, this hand is def. a 'special case'.

Yeah, this is pretty much correct. But that in itself is a pretty interesting strategy point though, and pretty much the one I wondered if people would comment on.

Very true, its a large bet my opponent made afterall.

Yes, this was pretty much my thinking also. Either I'm crushed or my opponent has a draw where I'm anything from 70% fav to a coinflip.

In the end I just thought coinflip decision + pot odds = call, and I lucked out and my opponent tabled T7 for the wrap draw. I don't think was a 'good' call though, probably more influenced by running a little hot against this player than I wanted to admit there and then. A call is maybe ok, instacalling was a biiig stretch.

Considering your pot odds, your read, and the fact that this is a NL25 home game, a call isn't absurd here. But I would also say that if you were playing this hand online against a tighter player, you took the wrong line. My advise is to look at every reason for calling here and figure out exactly why you shouldn't call in a different situation.

I've made looser calls against opponents I play with a lot shorthanded.
