FTOPS IV is starting tomorrow and I will be playing in at least 5 events - possibly 6. I know a few of you are also planning on playing. I wanted to make this thread to post tournament results, interesting hands, and updates for this series of tournaments.

My game plan will be to play lots of small pots early on and hopefully get a stack going. Then I'm going to play my table in the middle stages. Loose table = tighten up, tight table = keep playing loose. Updates to follow as a I go!

Been a bit up and down in this one. I started out doing rather well, I had gotten up to almost 6k in chips, and then a few cold decks later sort of missed or misplayed my way down to 2650 where I am at now at the 2nd break. This guy instant calls my reshove with 89s. I did a perfect squeeze and it sucks to lose all my chips like this. I honestly thought about it for about 20 secs. And this just seemed like too strong an opportunity to fold. Apparently, the other guy couldn't get away from his middle pair.

Busted in 214th out of 2995. Managed to comeback from the horrible hand above, only to get it all in with a9 vs a loose caller with Q5s. My raise was 4.5x the BB, and he instant called with the Q5s. Flop came AQx, but turn was another Q and I was sent to the rail.
Always the next one. $628 for my troubles, but top 3 pays 65k-164k so this is really too bad...

Yeah, people seems to find it hard to fold pairs. He was probably hoping for a race.
Can you explain why you folded the K's early on? Guess you didn't want to guess you're way out of the game, but he could have any other pair here as well as a flush draw etc..

Yah, looking at the 98s - it was really a tough decision for me because I felt like he had enough chips to fold. I obviously wouldn't make that play unless I thought he would laydown a hand like TT-22.
In terms of the KK hand. He made a weird reraise there and it made me put him on AA. He claimed he had JJ, but I don't think its worth "risking" 2k chips in that situation. I think I can probably find a better spot.
That being said, its possible he had QQ or JJ there because he might be afraid of an Ace or King hitting and wants me to fold AK or the like. I don't know, that might have been my biggest mistake of the tournament.

Just wasn't my day. I tried calling a loose raiser about 10 times, and was popped allin by a player in the blinds every single time. Was blinding down without seeing a hand, picked up KsJs UTG. About the worst hand I'd move in with for my 10xBB. So I moved it in. Called by another short stack who had 77. Didn't improve, and that was it.
Playing in the FTOPS #6 on Wednesday. Hopefully that will go a bit better.

I decided to give up on the FTOSP this year and concentrate on lower buyins MTT - played my first $14K grtd. got busted when some dude decided to push into my reraise with AJo - I had K's and of course he flopped an A.
We were both pretty deep, so he could have just called and see a flop.
After that I have 10 blinds left and my third AI with QTs run into A's
what are you going to do. Busted 200 out of 800. Was actually 7th in chips in the first hour.

Pwned. Went out in 1186th/2555
I was going good and then made a few poor plays. I tried to bluff a particular player two times when I sensed he was weak. He called me down with top pair 4 kicker the first time, and 5 kicker the second. Lost about 3k chips to him like that. And it was that same player who made a weird minraise from the SB, which I'd seen him do before. I had limped in with K J with about 14 BBs left in my stack, and figured, as before, he had a weak ace or small pocker pair. Seemed like a good chance to pick up 4x BB with little risk, if I shoved, - only he called me with A 7 in about 1 second. I have no idea how, but it didn't matter - I was out of the tournament when I didn't improve on the flop, turn, and river.

Looks like my last chance will be this coming Sunday, as it turns out I'll be unable to play in the PL event tomorrow night.
I need to fix up my strategy a bit. I had been doing really well in these for a few weeks, and I think the main change I've made is not changing gears during the middle blinds levels. 50/100 and up. Last night I was at 5600 chips, an above average stack. My FPS led me to play about 15 hands in the next 10 mins that led from being in great shape to out of the tournament. I could tell that I needed to slow down, but couldn't bring myself to fold opportunities like a6os on the button folded to me, or the KJs hand I mentioned in the last post. I also had a hand where I lost about 1400 chips to a guy who reraised my preflop raise (I had AK and called him in position). The flop came 9 high. He bet, and figuring he had a similar hand to mine, simply called, prepared to take it away on the turn with my remaining 3k chips. Turn came a jack and he led at the pot for about 900, which was a small bet in relation to the pot. I couldn't pull the trigger and folded. I don't know if I had him beat or not, but I set up a play and then folded, and thats just a waste of chips... It might not have been the right time, but I should have decided that on the flop, not the turn.
Anyway, I want to evaluate what I'm doing wrong in these middle stages. I may jump into 20 or so deep stack tournaments over the next few days to experiment with different tactics during these levels. Cheers.

Last night I played the 90 person double stack S&G for the first time. And I loved it. So much play in those. Managed to double up in the first few levels then moved to a new table and sort of blinded away stayed even for an all hour.
became the table short stack (though i still had 20XBB) Table big stack had more chips then the rest of us together. And started to abuse my tight image (as well as getting some card) and got to be 2nd in chips in the table with in the next hour. went it got down to the last 16. Made a huge error playing against my gut
(raised KT from BTN - BB called. Flop was AKT. he check/call and I feel sick. He lead blank turn, and I ignore my gut and call. Call a blank river as well. He flopped the nut str)
Managed to build most of my lost chips back, then in a family limped pot I pick TPNK (J9) on a 3 to the flush flop. I lead all fold but BS. I put him on a big flush draw. Bet the turn and then call his pot bet on the river. Hoping he bet a missed draw. He wasn't. Again he flopped the nuts and I'm very crippled.
So beside those 2 hands I played really well. Stealing a lot of pots, getting value from my marginal hands. And getting lots of value from my good hands.
Deep stack is cool.

Again I found myself rather deep in this tournament with a slightly below average stack. I pick up AK in late position, reraise a middle position raiser, and get it allin. He has QQ, his hand holds up, and I'm left with less than a blind. I busted in 1614th/3798.
I never had AA, and the one time I had KK it ran into AA. Generally, you have to catch cards and they need to win pots. Having did very little of both, I'm thinking my best hope is next tournament.
