Leauge rankings

I want to start some sort of scoring system for my monthly tourney so we can rank our players over the year. Does anyone have a formula or method that works well for them?

It's only a one table tourney if that matters. Maybe 15 people in our pool of possible players.

Having the pricepool as 100 points total and then giving points after % of pool won works nice.

So if you get 100$ out of a $200 for 1st place you get 50 points etc.

And then just add the diff tourneys together for the overall winner.

If you don't want to judge stakes equally, you could just base it on raw $$$ won.

If it's the same buy-in every month, Avg Earnings/Entries is all you need to do.

I would have the total number of points be the players in each tournament. If 10 show, then 10 total points, 6 players, 6 points.

The decide how many should earn points, all players or just to top x%. So, 10 players, 1st gets 5, 2nd 3, 3rd 2. 6 players, 1st 4, 2nd 2.

Or, just pay each place:
1st 10, 2nd 9, 3rd 8, down to 1 for 10th. For 6 players, 1st 6, 2nd 5, 3rd 4, etc. That way you reward people for showing up, even if they finish last. The more people you beat, the more points you get.

Ok, I think I've figured out what I'll do... thanks for the help guys.

ex: 10 players (top 3 paid)
1st: 130 points (30% bonus)
2nd: 110 (20% bonus)
3rd: 90 (10% bonus)
4th: 70
5th: 60
6th: 50
7th: 40
8th: 30
9th: 20
10th: 10

ex: 6 players (top 2 paid)
1st: 72 points (20% bonus)
2nd: 56 (10% bonus)
3rd: 40
4th: 30
5th: 20
6th: 10

So it's Dave's way with little bonuses for being in the money.

Yeah. Dr. Neau has a good point system he uses. You might want to use excel for it though.
