This kind of stuff happens often. I flat call with AK. Take over the betting and ends up calling an AI.
Should I play this any different?

IMO, hands like this aren't strong enough to wait till the later streets to assert yourself. Calling preflop is fine, but you need to make some noise on the flop while it's still reasonably cheap to do so, especially with position. If you pop it to $6 or so, you should find out pretty quickly if he wants to play for his stack.
I'm not a NL player though, so take it with a grain of salt. Others will likely disagree with me.

like sean said
u cant slowplay tptk becouse u get no information on his hand
if u raise on flop u can see where u are,
and in this case u got ugly turn and river,
altho i think ur more often going to see a weaker ace or some PP
then u would see A5 or A3 considering he raised from ep.
as it was played u definetly have to call the river

I did put him on a big A. just not as big as mine.
Plan 1 can be to raise flop and fold to reraise - though I do see AQ and AJ reraising here a lot in this levels.
If he calls, check behind turn.
And call reasonable river bet.
As played, should I have just check behind turn? This is a clear WA/WB situation. If he has a weaker A or a pocket pair he has very few outs to improve. So instead of looking to take a big pot down, I should just attempt to get cheap show down.

You played this fine. I don't see a problem with calling the flop. Based on his range, there are plenty of hands you want to bluff you on the turn. If you raise the flop, you get no more money out of weaker aces, KK-66. I actually like the way you played this. I wouldn't be too surprised if he has a hand like AA here, but I also wouldn't be too surprised if he had a hand like AJ.
If you ended up running into A5, A3, 5x, 3x, 55, or 33, oh well. You cannot fold AK at any point during this hand. Your bet on the turn to me looks like your opponent might percieve it as a float and call you down with a middle ace. When he donk bets the river, this just looks to me like a bad play from an inexperienced player. I call here too.

Unfortunately at that level raising the flop will not give you much info. Anyone with AQ or AJ will call or reraise.

I think you played it fine.

Sometimes TPTK is good enough...

this is sooo confusing to me. I though A's would have reraised me PF. and if he was lucky enough to hit set of T's - well, he get paid.

btw , I almost never reraise AK from the blinds. Hate being OOP in a big pot.
If they call, it usually means a pocket pair. And if I miss, they are usually not good enough to fold their pair even with 3 over cards on the flop.
so its either I give up when I miss, or I fire a C-bet and give up when they call.
But I decided that by raising, I will save my self from going broke if they do have A's
