Either he has a big pair or overcards. Overcards will probably shut down if you call the flop. A big pair will likely re-raise. I make a small raise, maybe try to represent something like 88 or 99, and hope he thinks his big pair is good. A raise on the flop may get the overcards to call looking to pair up, either way, I don't think you get much more out of them on the turn.

Bottomline: I like a raise.

You need to make sure you will exceed your implied odds for your set by the end of the hand.

I would have bet a little bit more on the Turn and River.

I actually knew how that turned out since I was data mining that table.

Wow, your opponent is very smart not to have lost more here. Very savvy check on the turn by him.

I would have raised the flop as "pot size manipulation bet." You want to potentially be able to get it all in here if your opponent is willing, so I probably bump it up to like $7 or $8 on the flop to make the bets bigger on the later streets.
