Hmm, not really. I probably would have guessed that he limped in with a small pair, and made a set on the flop. Of course if that was true, when the turn paired the 4s it would have given him a full house or four of a kind, and your straight would have been beaten anyway. So you were doomed no matter what, but it still would have taken a pretty uber guess/read to fold a straight on the flop there.
