Full Tilt vs Poker Stars?

Posted Tue May 22, 2007 1:20 am GMT by AHBrownell
I have been playing a little on Poker Stars lately and I've noticed that their VIP club promotions are incredibly good.

I currently get rakeback on Full Tilt and have always figured that the rakeback + FPP points > FPP on Stars.

My rakeback is usually around $500 a month, but looking at the quick rate + bonus rate you could easily accumulate the FPPs on stars I wonder which site is the better choice.

I imagine I could easily clear 1k points 4 days a week at the bronze level (5.5K+ total). So within a week I would have Gold status, and within another week I would have PlatinumStar (15K+ total). I then would earn 150% FPP points each session meaning that I'd earn 2500 per session (~65K total). So the question is would about 4500 FT FPPS + $500 be worth 65K FPPS on STARS?

I'm not sure. The prizes on Stars seem very good; ipods, tournament entries, TVs, cameras, gift cards, etc.

What is the general consensus on which option is better?

Just something else for you to consider, once you use points on FT it is deducted from your rake back.

Rakeback > Points

Do they Mr Darling? Well I am f*ck when I get the widescreen tv, 170k down 130k to go. :D

yeah, AFIAK they do. They deduct rake back from any thing you buy in the store for point, for points you use to enter tournaments, and even for the iron man challenge tournament.

I thought from all people you should know crack, running your own rake back site and all Smile

Hmm, well I'm thinking once I reach supernova status, I could easily be earning 150K+ FPPs per month. I cannot see how $500 and the VERY occasional item from the FTP store can compete with that.

Gonna finish up iron man on Full Tilt this month and then I think I'll be moving over to Stars for a few month run on there.

If I'm overestimating my point earning capabilities it will become apparent very quickly.

The games on ps are tougher, and the extra perks for supernova don't make up for that.

are the games on stars really tougher?

i used to hear that the full tilt site had the toughest competition, now its the other way around?

maybe this would explain why im in a complete bankroll slump at the moment, slowly but surely dwindling down.... altough ive also reached my highest of highs on stars, so that doesnt eeally add up

anyway, the VIP program at stars is pretty awesome, ive just reached platinum star yesterday. but Brownell, to be honest i think you are overestimating the points a little, especially if you're only bronze now..... though i dont know how much you play

and what exactly is this rakeback and how do you receive it?

Go back to Doyles King. That site is still full of fish from what I am hearing.

Well, yesterday I played for about 2 hours. I eight table, .5/1.00 NL. I earned about 500 FPPs at the bronze level. I had played for 4 hours on FT before this, and so had I played at PS for the full 6 hours, I likely would have earned 1200-1500 FPPs on Stars (at bronze).

I did not find the competition more difficult on Stars. In fact, I found it quite the opposite. Mind you I was on a bit of a heater last night, but I got into lots of pots where my opponents overplayed their hand a bit. I found that a short-buy strategy ($30 buyin at the $100 table) worked really well. I doubled on nearly every table by the time I had logged off. (And one table I got up to $180!)

This was my first time playing ring games on Stars in many months, but I'm sure getting up to supernova would be incredibly fast. Easily achieveable in two months time.

I also just noticed that they have an option to pick up a $1500 bonus for 100k points. I think you could easily select this once a month and then make much more money using FPPs than with rakeback.

---

Rakeback is a done through a referral site. You basically get part of the referree's bonus from referring you to the site. On rake freeze dot com (the rake site I use) they pay 27% of all rake back to the player. So if you were raked for say $1000 during the month, you would get back $270. It's pretty nice to get that chunk of free money each month and on Full Tilt the rate in which rakeback is earned is quite similar to the rate of bonus dollars. Smile

OK, but BE AWARE though that stars had the double FPP and VPP action going on from 14th - 22nd of may due to the 10 billionth hand celebration etc., so it wont go as fast as it has been when that stops

speaking of the 10B celeb. i have been killing the 10+1's

wow, that is pretty sick!

i actually almost purchased the $285 for 25K FPP a week or so ago, but decided against it and bought an I-pod nano for 17K, ive been needing a mp3 player type thing for a while now, this one seemed pretty damn decent... 8 GB

now that ive ordered that, i can focus on getting those cash rewards.... they are realllllly tempting to get indeed... i dont want a fancy HDTV or DVD payer from their store anyway,.... maybe one of those profesional casino style chip sets though... they are really nice. but thats the last item i'd really want, after that im goin for those cash rewards for sure!

Totally forgot about the 10B hand FPP rate. I'll have to see how it is, after that promotion ends!

Posted Tue May 22, 2007 4:59 pm GMT by crack
You are not going to make 100 or 150k fpp's in a month or whatever you said at supernova.

The only way would be mutli tabling all day every day. I don't think me or my mate every made those kind of points in a month and I was 4 tabling 5/10 and 10/20 while he 4 tabled 30/60 (limit)

gl though.

Oh, and if you are going to pimp a rakeback site, pimp mine, linkage in profile. Wink

Posted Tue May 22, 2007 6:00 pm GMT by AHBrownell
How many FPPs did you earn 4 tabling Crack?

I eight table, so I can probably expect to earn 2x that. :D

Posted Tue May 22, 2007 7:03 pm GMT by crack
off the top of my head it was over 100k but it was over a period of a few months.

Nah you will probably make less than that. Limit > NL for rake/fpp's

I now only play on FT.

Posted Tue May 22, 2007 9:54 pm GMT by Jefecaminador
crack, whats your name on ft? I just started playing on there again.

oh crap! i just noticed the $ rewards are only available until the end of june, after which it will be "further reviewed"......

hope i can round up 35K FPP before then for the $650 one Confused

I cannot imagine some form of it won't be continued king.

On an aside, I earn about ~700 points per day at bronze level. Looking at the poker stars site,

At Silver I'll earn ~1050 points per day.
---Over 20 sessions, thats 21,000 per month---

At Gold I'll earn ~1400 points per day.
---Over 20 sessions, thats 28,000 per month---

At Platinum I'll earn ~1750 points per day.
---Over 20 sessions, thats 35,000 per month---

At Supernova I'll earn ~2450 points per day.
---Over 20 sessions, thats 49,000 per month---

AND if I could somehow play 24 hours a day, every day, and earn Supernova ELITE I'll earn 3500 points per day.
---Over 20 sessions, thats 70,000 per month---

Now, the interesting thing is that if I upped my amount of play per session or # of sessions or limit of play, I could clear a LOT more points. However, I could easily see 50,000-75,000 to be the top limits even with some of these adjustments.

In other words, I'm not sure Poker Stars is better or worse then Full Tilt in terms of promotions. Cool
