Posted Thu May 24, 2007 3:31 am GMT by Jernej Zorec
this hand came up yesterday and i have no idea on what to think, was it a bad spot ?
table was playing bit on passive side lots of limping with medium hands.

i had to call his push due to odds altho the guy probably knew i can't fold considering how he played so far, seeing his hand tho makes me wonder

I don't like the preflop raise, you're hand really isn't that good OOP, even against limpers. Preflop makes postflop really hard. I guess its either committ yourself on the flop or check and give up. I would probably end up taking the same line as you if I raised preflop, but I wouldn't raise preflop.

yeah the only reason i did it was becouse play was kinda weak and didnt want to just fold, but suppose ur right on the preflop action

Generally I agree with the sentiment, though I might complete preflop instead of just folding. After the PFR I think I probably do the same thing, that board isn't beautiful... I have an unhealthy aversion to Jxx flops against a limper ;P It's a pretty good flop for people to miss though, and given the play preflop even if I'm not really happy about following through, I'm probably less happy giving up without a fight.

I hate short stacks cold-calling like the BB did here, since different players can have such drastically different ranges there.
