i make a bet to see where i'm at about 1/2 pot

With the board as draw heavy as it is, I don't see any reason to let him catch up. Bet 1/2 to 2/3 pot, but probably closer to 2/3rds. He could have any two at this point.

what they said, you'll never know where your at if you dont bet. if you get raised then its probably best to lay it down, but if its just a call, you are probbably ahead

Taking the free card is fairly horrible because you are no better off 3/4 of the time. A fourth heart or a 6 will only happen about 1/4 of the time, the rest of the time you are left with the same dilemma about what to do as you had on the turn. Definitely bet here.

Luckily you're in position here which makes things a lot easier. I say make a small bet, like 1/2 the pot and see what happens. If you're called, you can check behind on the river if you don't improve. If you're rasied you can get out of the hand, or hope to spike a boat on the river if you're feeling frisky.

With a 3 flush on the board a lot of the time a straight will just check/call down here so betting the turn and river might not be a great idea.

If you were oop, i'd prolly say check the turn, you wanna keep this pot small cause you're in a tricky spot with almost no way of being sure what a bet that comes after you means.

On the other hand, checking behind might induce a river bluff, or encourage him to bet a flush into a full house if the board pairs.

What are we going to do if we bet and he raises? I doubt we're going to fold straight out. Then we're hoping for the board to pair on the end.

With opponent only having like 2200 behind now, I'm not sure there's much chance of us folding.

Advantages of Betting
1. Value. Might get called by a weaker hand.
2. Gives us option to check behind on river if villain calls/checks.
3. Prevents villain from drawing at a one card flush cheaply.

Advantages of Checking
1. May induce river bluff when betting the turn earns us no chips.
2. We lose less those times we are behind (probably).
3. Pot is smaller if an ultra-scary card comes off.

I think this is actually a fairly close decision, closer than many think. The biggest reason I can think to bet the turn is (3), preventing a draw from getting there, because there are a fair amount of one card draws out there. Problem comes when we get check-raised. By stack sizes, factoring in redraw, any bet on the turn makes it pretty difficult to escape. So if we bet, we'll probably have to intend on calling/re-raising all-in from villain.

In a situation like this Betting is definately the stronger move. I could literally never check behind here.

If he is drawing he will call a reasonable bet, this is what you want - make your opponent make errors in a hand. If he has a made hand it is not likely that he will check- raise u here unless he has the nut flush. By checking you re giving free cards on a board that alot of hands will call you and give more value and you are also makeing the big mistake of letting your opponent draw for free when teh aim is to force an error on his part. BET BET BET

i think i check behind here.... looking at stacksizes, if you bet, you will be totally committed to call his raise/push. and thats just ugly

if the river is somewhat safe call a reasonable bet. if it makes things on the board even uglier get away cheaply
