i was playing live poker with a few friends yesterday. flop comes something like;
Ah 10h 5h
it's dark and difficult to see the cards. someone asks before acting,
'is it a rainbow'?
i reply
'no they're all hearts.'
he says
'ya so its a rainbow.'
i quickly offered to wager $50, he agreed to $5.
even after i printed out multiple definitions from various sources and showed it to him he insisted that all the dealers at all the places he's played at say rainbow when the cards are suited.
can anyone think of any reason as to why he would think this?

simple... he's an idiot... rainbows are all different colours, for therefore a "rainbow" flop would be all different...
go to the WPT website.. i'm sure they have some official poker glossary there for you...
when a flop is all the same suit it's called a (insert suit here) flop...
so in your case it was a heart flop...

Having wagered the odd bet against friends over stupid issues, I would argue the word is "slang".
Presumeably, the source of how the bet would be defined wasn't agreed before hand either.
Therefore it can be interpreted however you think best. I would suggest if your mate found one person to agree with him, he would then be able to argue he's right. The case would then be at stalemate.
(As you can tell, I've had to talk my way out of a few dodgy bets!)
Having said that, you know just as well as I do, you are right.
Has he paid up yet?
