No This is not a bad beat story. Poker Stars and these prepaid visas are going to drive me nuts.
Signed up with paytru deposited $110 in total then find out anyone who signed up after May 1 does not get a card. Come to find out the ONLY place i can use the funds in paytru if I decide to still put them on without having an actual card is Poker Stars. Lady on the phone to Paytru told me this.
So I go buy a different prepaid visa, but before I did so I sent Poker Stars the following email:
This is an ammended question to my last email. I am going to purchase a
>prepaid reloadable visa card. Once I make a deposit to Poker Stars from
>this new card, can I then make all my withdrawels to this new card even
if
>the amounts of the withdraws are more than the original deposit?
Their reply to me:
Thank you for your email. Yes, that is correct. Once you have deposited
once with this card you may use it for cashouts and overcredits.
If we can help you with anything else please let us know.

Manfred

Great, super I do it. spend 10 for the visa, load $20 onto it, deposit $15 at Stars to establish the history and then am told by PS the only card I can charge back to is the Paytru. What??????
I explained to them and even copied the email exchange that I had with them, but they insist the only card it can go back to is Paytru which I might add I already closed that account. Now they tell me it's Paytru or a cheque. Freakin great. The new poker law says I'm not allowed to cash checks from poker sites. So I'm kinda screwed. got $134 on Poker Stars and no way to get it off. I suppose I could get the cheque and hope it sneaks thru my bank.
Any ideas anyone?
It is really frustrating.
Thanks.

You can use a check. When they send you the check it will be drawn on a legitimate bank. I got a check from full tilt from Wells Fargo.

One solution would be to transfer the funds to someone else's PS account and have them send you a personal cheque (I'm Canadian, hence the spelling of "cheque"). This obviously would require significant trust on your part. Also, there may be a restriction on transferring 100% of your funds to another account (I seem to recall that you have to keep at least $50 in your account, but I could be wrong).

Me too x3. The check does not say "PokerStars" anywhere on the body of the document, so there is no way for the bank to know it's from a gambling site anyway. Hence, the UIGEA is essentially toothless.
