Doesn't get much worse...does it...???

Today...played 450 hands, won only 17 !!
Lost $170.
Far and away my worst day after 2 months of steady if unspectacular profit.
Both my KK hands got busted with junk after i raised 3xBB.
Both AA hands made poor profit.
Both my sets of 8's got rivered away by the Fish of the century calling my pot bets all the way.
6 of 7 of my AQ's lost, as did my only AK.
5 of my 6 KQ's lost.
I only hit one straight all day.
I still think I played well, raising when I could, being aggressive.. but today was just a nightmare.
Shocked

P.S. Ever think of raising more than 3xbb preflop?

Bah, blasphemy! Smile

But yeah, it does happen. In all seriousness though, if you want to raise small (I'd say 3x BB is small) with Kings or Aces, try to keep the betting relatively small on later streets, because you have given your opponents very good implied odds.

Losing with sets is rare, and you pretty much have to accept it.

I'm curious as to how you played your KQ, AQ, and AK hands. How MUCH did you lose with those? Because with one pair with any of those hands, losing a lot with one pair tends to be a fairly serious leak in many No Limit Hold'em players' games.

After every losing session, I try to think of some of my major losing pots and analyze what I could have done better (and sometimes, there really is nothing you can do, but often it can still help your game to think about it).

.

Having analysed AQ and KQ, 2/3rd's of these hands I was in early position.
The AHeart K Club hand i was in late position, The winner raised to 1.50, i re-raised to 2.50, and no other callers. Flop was JT9 (!) Diamond . I bet 5.00, he raised to 30.00. I folded.

Overall I didn't lose heavily on most hands, as I recognise one pair after the River is not (generally) good enough to win. It was just a consistent bad day. (ending in me making a straight after the Turn, betting the pot, and losing to a 10% chance card to a higher straight on the River)
