lol.... this happened in a recent live freeroll tourney today...
6handed... blinds 500/1000
68diamonds in LP, 2 limpers to me so i call.. Button calls SB completes and Bb checks..
pot 6BB... flop 10 7 3 1 diamond.... checks to me and i check.. button bets 2bb folded to me... i put villian on position steal so i decide to peel off a card and maybe make a play at him on the turn...
pot 10bb... turn K diamonds... i got my draw... i check villian bets 3bb getting a little over 3:1 i decide to chase knowing i can prob get a small bet off him on the river...
pot 16bb... river a blank... i check... villian mucks... as everyone was asking him if he folded he said, " well he must have something and i don't got it"...
i quietly muck my hand and scoot my 16k pot to increase my stack by 40%....

I had the same thing happened in a friendly home game.
I raised from the steal position with 24s.
BB called.
Flop gave me a str draw. my c-bet get reraised. I decided I have odds to chase.
He lead a blank turn and I chase some more.
River is another blank and he mocks. Sadly I'm honest and I tell him his J high is better then my 4 high

I see this occasionally in cash games where an early position player just mucks their hand for no reason, but it’s normally on the flop or turn against several other players. Never ever on the river facing a scary check.
