Playing the playa - two interesting hands |

So, we're looking at .25/.50 nl... get2theCHOPPER (an Arnold Schwarzanegger groupie) is a little wily... a bit loose, but pretty solid aggressive. Before, I really stopped to look at his hands though, I definitely saw him as a LAG playa. Here's the first hand.
FullTiltPoker Game #2661270166: Table Arville (6 max) - $0.25/$0.50 - No Limit Hold'em - 0:18:27 ET - 2007/06/14

GeneralSal raises to $5 I raise here, knowing that I should be even money. Chopperboy must be protecting a pair of 8s.
Roboak14 folds
get2theCHOPPER raises to $18.75 So, I'm check raised here... a little frustrating definitely. At the time I decide to just call... if he has something bigger and I raise, he's gonna go over the top. I call $13.75 on a pot of $26... that's 2:1 on my money and he has another $28 behind which is 4:1... if I catch on the turn it'll be good.

It's funny 'cause I think he went on a bit of a semi tilt after that hand. He definitely was on the aggressive side... then I catch him on a bluff here.

GeneralSal bets $3.50 I bet here, and he just smooth calls. What for? I guess he has jacks or he could be on a flush draw. In which case I'm good to go.get2theCHOPPER calls $3.50
*** TURN ***

GeneralSal checks
Yeah, I'm a little worried about the King of hearts...completes the flush. I had a feeling that even if he didnt' complete the flush, he still may check raise me here. (At the hours I was playing, I was getting checkraised like hell all over the place. Wasn't sure if it was just pure aggression, or really really strong hands.) Either way, something told me he would have at least get some kind of value... I think when he had bet teh two pair in the previous hand, then he would at least bet here... bigger to protect a decent flush, at least 1/3 pot for the nut flush. Either way, I figure I might call if he bets the river. Let's see what happens....
*** RIVER ***
get2theCHOPPER bets $8
GeneralSal has 15 seconds left to act
Okay, so here I'm getting 2:1 on my money. I don't think he has a six... though it looks like it. Why bet it in this spot? If I have the flush I'm gonna raise you. If he had the king, he shouldn't bet here either. I might be trapping with a flush as well. I could have had ace queen of hearts. Either way, he's trying to scare me. I think $8 is worth a call here. I'm getting 2:1.
GeneralSal calls $8
*** SHOW DOWN ***
get2theCHOPPER shows a pair of Sixes
GeneralSal shows two pair, Queens and Sixes
GeneralSal wins the pot ($26.50) with two pair, Queens and Sixes
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $27.50 | Rake $1
Board:
Seat 1: get2theCHOPPER (small blind) showed and lost with a pair of Sixes
Seat 2: zoomzang (big blind) folded before the Flop
Seat 3: GeneralSal showed and won ($26.50) with two pair, Queens and Sixes
So, there it was... just a busted inside straight draw. One thing I was drawn to was his bet the river %... HIs sits at around 33%... anything over 30% is worth a call with a marginal hand. Basically, they value bet bad hands and busted draws, which is what he did in this case. Basically, I was inducing a bluff, and he gave me the right price.
I really could use you guys input on the second hand though. How would you have played it differently? Do you think I screwed up and just got lucky?

Hand 2 looks fine.
Hand 1 I probably shove the flop.

Hand 2 actually looks perfect, that turn card was a big scare card and he probably would've folded if you bet (with the cards he had). If he had a big hand, he probably would've check raised you or led into on the river facing you with a tough decision. You gave him a chance to bluff at the river, and he didn't bet a lot.
Hand 1 don't know how much I like the call of the re-raise. The raise looked good, but his re-raise was huge. In those situations I like to get better than 4:1 implied odds since you're not getting their whole stack 100% of the time, and he still had a 10% chance to fill up on the river.
